Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum touted an 11th-hour endorsement from conservative Christian leaders on Sunday ahead of South Carolina's crucial nominating contest but it appeared to have little influence on churchgoers.
With South Carolina's January 21 primary approaching, time is running short for Santorum and other Republican candidates who hope to slow front-runner Mitt Romney's march to the Republican presidential nomination.....
....."I make decisions for myself and I don't listen to what a bunch of leaders say to do," said Victoria Jaworowski, who was attending the Cathedral of Praise mega-church in North Charleston.
The Christian leaders meeting in Texas only endorsed Santorum narrowly in a vote that went to the third ballot. It is not clear how they will help the former Pennsylvania senator in terms of money or staff to help him campaign.......
.......Santorum has criticized the financial industry as a whole.
"You need a leader who's going to go out on the Republican side and fight the interests of Wall Street and big business," he said in Gaffney, South Carolina, on Friday.........

Wrong, this was another one of his Kerry moments, he opposed it before he supported, but he was supporting it when it passed. http://theiowarepublican.com/2011/newt%E2%80%99s-justification-for-supporting-tarp/

It’s obvious Santorum said BLACK people. No other word in there makes sense. Santorum tried to play it off by alleging he really said, “blah people.” Come on, lol.
I know it’s just a gaffe and it’s not a big deal to me, but how he tried to cover it up is pretty funny.
As a matter of fact, common sense says that if they wanted congress to pass TARP, they would have said so. It looks like they were pleading with congress to do something but did not get specific about what they wanted done.
I was just hoping that where was some documentation of Santorum saying he opposed the Bush bailouts at the time of the Bush bailouts. If there is none then it might very well be that Santorum only decided he opposed the bailouts when the Tea Party made opposes them popular. My research thus far suggests that is the case. Or put another way Santorum only opposed them when it was popular to do so. Oh Paul voted against the bush bailouts so he is no record of opposing them. I’m going to see if I can any documentation on Perry too, since both are making that claim a big part of their campaign.
This supporter does care, which is why I am supporting someone other than Mitt Romney. Get it?
Why are you attempting to spam this thread about your 4% man?//? Go support his vulture attacks on capitalism on a perry thread and stop attacking Santorum.
“My dear. You are not listening. I linked and quoted Dr. Jack Wheeler. If you have a beef about what he said, go tell him. Perhaps he will give you more information.”
My good woman, you linked to lies and your post should be pulled. The man denigrated Conservative Christian leaders because they care about “morality first” and then libeled them by saying they had an agenda to get Santorum forced on Romney. This is just a lie. It isn’t a distortion, it is a lie. MAYBE YOU should read garbage before posting quotes from it. I have never disliked Perry, but IF you and “Wheeler” are indicative of the types he attracts, then I guess I’m going to have to be actively against Perry.
And you are as guility as the person committing “libel” when you propagate it.
This morning the Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, Governor Joe Manchin, and the Chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Governor Rick Perry, released a joint letter to Congress urging them to pass an economic recovery package.
As leaders of our respective organizations, we don't always see eye to eye on policy, but we come together today with one clear purpose. We strongly urge Congress to leave partisanship at the door and pass an economic recovery package. We both believe that its time to stand together for our country.
There is a time for partisanship and there is a time for getting things done. No one likes the hand they've been dealt, and now is not the time to assign blame. It is time for Washington, D.C. to step up, be responsible and do what's in the best interest of American taxpayers and our economy.
This economic crisis is not just impacting Wall Street; it is also making life harder for everyday Americans. Americans across the country and in every demographic are feeling the pinch. If Congress does not act soon, the situation will grow appreciably worse. It's time for leadership. Congress needs to act now.
LOL, I am sure operations research has looked long and hard, I gave you the links about newt and perry you can make up your own mind. As to who is spinning what.
If we unify behind Santorum, it will force Romney to pick him as his running mate - for hell know thats the only way to get our support in the general (election in November).
Once again...to clarify. This is the offending statement you quoted from Wheeler’s remarks. WHO said this? Wheeler doesn’t say....it is HIS spin not an actual quote. He should be sued for libel and person like yourself that pass this trash along as fact should suffer the same.
.
Santorum has not been vetted.

People NEED to know this about Santorums voting record.
.
So far the only one I know for a FACT that did not support the bailout is Paul. Still trying to find something on Santorum to back up his claim that he didn’t.
Seriously? It was Newt and Perry that supported TARP while Santorum was againt it. It’s also Newt and Perry that are leading current attacks on capitalism
What candidate are you supporting and why should he be POTUS?
You can pull that type of garbage out of any omnibus bill. Where your man, if he was in office, voted for the same crap, since no one reads the 5000 page bills. And actually no one votes for them since they refuse to do a roll call vote.
Quoting Little Green Footballs> You’ve pretty much become Newt’s Baghdad Bob at FR.
You are starting to become a bad joke at FR with your constant shilling and misinformation.
The vote and all it’s confusion says very little about a real unification coming out of the meeting.......
The FRC said these numbers represented the ballot results:
First Ballot
Ron Paul 1
Mitt Romney 3
Rick Perry 13
Newt Gingrich 48
Rick Santorum 57
Second Ballot (two top vote recipients)
Mr. Gingrich 49
Mr. Santorum 70
(59-41% for Santorum)
Third Ballot
Mr. Gingrich 29
Mr. Santorum 85
(74.5% - 25.5% for Santorum)
end snip
From the numbers above the 1st ballot had 122 total votes and it went down from that. Supposedly the 3rd vote was taken in order to get the 2/3rds requirement they set for an endorsement statement.
