Top conservative talker Rush Limbaugh says Newt Gingrich may have made a "good move" by raising Mitt Romney's Bain dealings -- even if the criticisms had some mistakes. Limbaugh, on his show Friday, also noted that Gingrich's Bain attacks came after Romney allies spent millions of dollars in negative ads attacking Gingrich, which Gingrich has said included falsehoods or distortions of his record. Rush read Gingrich's statement asking his supporters that run Winning Our Future Super Pac to fix their video about Bain or pull it. Rush said: "Newt Gingrich released the following statement calling for truth and accuracy from campaigns and so-called 'Super-PACs' supporting candidates. 'The American people have a right to know the facts about the records of the men and women who are asking them for their vote. Governor Romney is running as someone who knows how to create jobs. In fact, he has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs while at Bain Capital. However, numerous analyses have said that figure is as inaccurate as President Obama's claim to have "saved or created" millions of jobs. Furthermore, Governor Romney's experience as a portfolio manager did not help him create an environment in Massachusetts that was friendly to job creation.'" Rush continued: "It goes on, but basically what Newt is saying here, what he announced today, "I am calling for the Winning Our Future Super-PAC supporting me to either edit its 'King of Bain' advertisement and movie to remove its inaccuracies, or to pull it off the air and off the internet entirely," and I am urging Romney to do the same. Well, I always thought Rush was Establishment—seems so.
And I mapped out a career path for her. Sec. Energy for 2 years, then beat the punk Dem Senator in Alaska in 2014- and be ready for the Presidency in 2020. -:)
She should get off the mark. She will be persona non grata if Romney wins- and if she let’s the tea party fizzle ( as it seems to be), she’ll have no audience even for her celebrity.
Sure, it's a path, but it's one that someone of Sarah's stature needn't take. Nor can she. She's frankly positioned at the pinnacle of American politics. There's no back stepping for her now. It's the White House, or nothing.
Obviously don’t know, Jim. But, my imagining is she definitely does not want to end up backing a loser-—or,
her endorsement may prove ineffective (as Todd’s was) and she loses her brand.
Tough decisions. But, I agree with you, it has to be in the next couple of days to give Newt the bump in SC.

I suspect that Rush whacked them because they criticized his religion substitute, capitalism, and Mitt simply happened to be the beneficiary. It’s long seemed to me that Rush shares Ayn Rand’s veneration for capitalism, where it becomes more than a beneficial way to run an economy and instead becomes an Idol that must never be criticized in any fashion. So when Newt and Perry criticized some of Romney’s business practices for being unethical it brought out the heresy-hunter in Limbaugh.
Add what Rush has done with his attack on Newt and it points to a very sad and disappointing situation.
It appears that all the people we thought were on our side are taking the side of Mitt Romney either explicitly and implicitly.

I agree. He came from small beginnings, worked his ass off, took his lumps, but has seemingly lost those original moorings. He’s almost persona non grata w me.
Well, that could be right. There is a flip side. If Obama wins, she’s looking at 2016—Romney 2020. She only has 2 years of actual governance under her belt. Long time to stay on the sidelines outside the policy arena. Maybe not.

Never thought I'd ever hear myself say that about Rush, but it does appear that he's become one of the elites now.
I'd like to see him redeem himself completely, but who knows if he's still got that sort of inner humility within him? It may take the loss of his audience for him to finally face himself in the mirror.
I think you’re ABSOLUTELY right. In an earlier post, I termed it his “inner self”. But, it’s late, so I can’t explain. But, we’ve had long discussions on the Board about this topic. I think it’s his blind spot- Perhaps another time.

Oh my gosh, some of you have completely misconstrued where Rush is coming from. He wasn’t shilling for Romney - not at all. He was upset that Newt and Perry attacked capitalism - simple as that. He’s never been a Romney supporter. Good heavens, I sure don’t understand how some can misunderstand what Rush said.
Nex- we’ve had awakenings- haven’t we? In 2008, 75% of us didn’t want too big to fail bank bailouts- but we discovered that our principled understanding of capitalism didn’t apply to the super rich.
Now, all the radio hosts that we listened to, who we thought decried “moderates” in favor of Reagan conservatives- well, it seems they were just telling us things we wanted to hear for their market share.

We still don't know what the final outcome of this race is going to be. There have been some rule changes in the Republican primary this year that open the door to a late challenger stepping in.
If Romney wins South Carolina and Florida, you can expect to hear an enormous roar of demands for her to step in as that challenger. She'll be the last and only hope of stopping him (and thus Obama), at that point.

She was actually Governor for just shy of three years, and has been in public service for over 20 years. Not exactly a brief fling with government.
It's a lot to contemplate. More than anything, I just want to see our country rid of The Marxist this November, and for an honest, reliable patriot conservative to assume the office, and do what must be done to turn this nation around.

He talks about God, in a minimal sense, and is anti-abortion. He has a fire within him. Let’s see if he can reclaim his reputation.
People on this site think he uses Drudge. I’m almost positive he uses FR. I only found this site a few years ago but he seems to mimic the best and brightest on this site. And I’m not making that up. He’s reading this site, I have no doubt.
No, everything I’ve heard from Newt has shown that he’s begun carefully analyzing what private equity firms do and seen how it is an abuse of the system that depends on corporate welfare. The simplest fact to look at is that Bain takes out huge loans on the backs of the firms they acquire and then immediately pays themselves most of that borrowed money as dividends or fees. The firms go deeply into debt. Some of them survive and some don’t, we have very incomplete information as to the numbers. But when they fail and go bankrupt, Bain gets to keep all the borrowed money they took out of the firm while the losses are “socialized” onto banks, pension insurers, etc. This is why Bain seems to have never lost money on a single acquisition they made, whether the acquired firms went bankrupt or not. Mitt Romney pretty much invented this scheme himself, and other “buyout barons” have popped up to imitate it.
