Limbaugh: Newt's Attacks May Be 'Good Move'

Top conservative talker Rush Limbaugh says Newt Gingrich may have made a "good move" by raising Mitt Romney's Bain dealings -- even if the criticisms had some mistakes. Limbaugh, on his show Friday, also noted that Gingrich's Bain attacks came after Romney allies spent millions of dollars in negative ads attacking Gingrich, which Gingrich has said included falsehoods or distortions of his record. Rush read Gingrich's statement asking his supporters that run Winning Our Future Super Pac to fix their video about Bain or pull it. Rush said: "Newt Gingrich released the following statement calling for truth and accuracy from campaigns and so-called 'Super-PACs' supporting candidates. 'The American people have a right to know the facts about the records of the men and women who are asking them for their vote. Governor Romney is running as someone who knows how to create jobs. In fact, he has claimed to have created 100,000 jobs while at Bain Capital. However, numerous analyses have said that figure is as inaccurate as President Obama's claim to have "saved or created" millions of jobs. Furthermore, Governor Romney's experience as a portfolio manager did not help him create an environment in Massachusetts that was friendly to job creation.'" Rush continued: "It goes on, but basically what Newt is saying here, what he announced today, "I am calling for the Winning Our Future Super-PAC supporting me to either edit its 'King of Bain' advertisement and movie to remove its inaccuracies, or to pull it off the air and off the internet entirely," and I am urging Romney to do the same. It’s rather obvious that Rush got hate-mailed like he’s never seen.

That era of great Americans fought a different kind of war from today. The Greatest Generation fought to win.

Today (LBJ and forward), politicians run the wars.

Regardless, that must have been some sight that your Dad saw during WWII.

Sarah’s precluded from personally endorsing because of her Fox contract, so Todd called to endorse Newt. HELLOOOOOO. We have to connect the dots here, people.

Anything that can bring down “Chainsaw Mitt” is fine with me.

No, duh! We tried to tell you this all week, Rush!

Damn, that man can be stubborn. He caused a great deal of harm to the race with his stupid rant on Monday. I'm still pissed about it, but I'm glad to see that he finally came to his senses.

Maybe this mea culpa from him will do some small amount of good. One can only hope.

You could be right. I still give him the benefit of the doubt because he’s been forth-right in describing this desecration of a potus as what it is since before the election.
The problem he and and any conservative radio personality is they’re fighting against a media that is vastly larger than them.
He needs to make a choice, that is for sure. He’s either a Patriot or a Rino. There is no middle ground.

I think you may be right, my friend. I commented on that yesterday to Onyx.

I think the problem he has now is that he has revealed his true self-

Horse manure.
You should listen to his show sometime.

Rush at first railed against Newt for attacking a very capitalistic process, but then mused that Newt is probably just practicing pragmatic politics and doesn't actually fully believe his own campaign's attacks. Newt simply sees an opportunity to get even with "Chainsaw Mitt" for the zillions of dollars of negative campaign ads Mittens launched against him in Iowa after he, Newt, promised to be positive and focus on going after the communist Ubama.

Anyway, that's the way I see it. Screw Mittens. Go, Newt.

Ohhh, where are those people who were beating me up for disagreeing with Rush on this when he was ripping Newt?

You got ripped for daring to speak the truth too, eh? When I heard Rush ripping Newt apart on Monday, my whole universe tilted sideways. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Naturally, I came here to express my disbelief, and unbelievably, I was slammed for daring to question what Rush was saying. It spooked the hell out of me to hear not only Rush tearing Newt apart for attacking Romney's shady business dealings, but Freepers actually defending him for doing so!

The universe tilted even more sideways after that. No wonder I caved in and fell ill for two days this past week. The shock of those attacks was pretty overwhelming.

Yes, he mentioned some amazing sights.

The road leading north from the coast to the interior of France was a regular highway of death. The US 7th Army caught the fleeing Germans on a long highway where they couldn’t maneuver and shot them to pieces. The highway was lined with wrecked German equipment for mile after mile.

Overhead the sky would be filled with planes, a thousand at a time, as waves of bombers headed for Germany.

He was with a AAA battery although they mostly used it as for infantry support. But occasionally the Luftwaffe would show up. The guns were electric driven and radar guided.

One day they spotted an incoming German plane and locked onto it, but they quickly realized that the gun couldn’t move fast enough to track the plane! It was a jet, the first that they had ever seen. Fortunately the Germans didn’t have enough of them to pose a problem.

Newt needs Sarah-she’s the only one who can rally the base against Romney.

Too true. Todd Palin came out and endorsed Newt, which a whole lot of people understood to be a tacit endorsement from Sarah, but we need Mama Grizzly herself to make a public endorsement soon.

Well, the entire thing smells like rotten fish to me.

It really bothers me to say that about Rush. I have had great admiration for him for a very long time, but it sure seems clear to me that he has jumped the shark....damn, just damn.

I’d sure like him to surprise me, but I won’t hold my breath.

Rush did his damage—now he’s just talking both sides. Strange I don’t hear his normal mantra— we have to nominate a Reagan conservative because moderates lose. I think he’s with Romney, and been there for a while.

Agreed. He's been trying to bring his audience along slowly. He must think they're pretty stupid.

I was just about done with him after the umpteenth marriage with Elton John playing. Now I'm really done with him, aside from posting negative comments on his Facebook wall.

It's amazing how utterly pathetic the so-called "conservative media" has turned out to be.

It’s rather obvious that Rush got hate-mailed like he’s never seen.

And cancellations of Rush 24/7 up the ying/yang. I'm sure they quickly realized that the emails they were receiving were only the tip of the iceberg.

I don't know that I've ever seen Rush goof this badly before. He quite literally almost handed the nomination to the biggest RINO piece of crap that's come down the pike in decades.

If Romney wins South Carolina, millions of Americans are going to blame Rush personally for turning the momentum of the election to him, and for being responsible for the eventual re-election of The Marxist.

I don't think a bigger blunder has ever been committed by an influential opinion leader in modern times.

I know what Rush said-— I heard it- I read it-— he attacked Newt-—viciously. And I certainly believe that many of his listeners have a different view of him now than before he revealed his true self.

Thanks for your opinion, though.

Yes, they ignored me on the playground too. I think I was referred to as a ‘clueless person’. I love it when THIS happens.

The real question is: Will she announce who she supports in as timely a fashion as she announced her decision on whether to run or not? Let's face facts, if she is to endorse and make a difference, she must do so NOW! There is no indication that she will do so for anyone. The fact is her husband may have endorsed because she would not.

Sarah’s precluded from personally endorsing because of her Fox contract

Well then, Sarah needs to quickly decide whether her contract is more important than the outcome of this race, and the certain re-election of Barack Obama.

If you refuse to be our president, the least you can do is help rally us around the best conservative in the race, Sarah. Come on. Do the right thing here.
