Aspiring first black GOP congresswoman: Don’t put me in a box
Daily Caller ^ | 1/14/12 | Alexis Levinson

If Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love wins her bid for Congress, she will be the first black Republican congresswoman in history. But don’t try to put her in that box.

~snip~ If she does receive significant media attention, Love hopes to use the opportunity to express a conservative message that has too few African American champions.

“Any time I’m in front of that camera … I’m going to champion those conservative causes. I’m going to let people out there know that we exist, and that … there are conservative black Americans everywhere that believe in fiscal discipline, limited government and personal responsibility,” she said.

“On the first day of college my dad said to me, ‘Your mother and I have never taken a handout, we have given you everything that we possibly could, we’ve worked hard for everything that we have. You will not be a burden to society. You will give back,’” she recounted.

That “stuck in the back of my head,” Love said. Indeed, a major reason she is running for Congress is because she feels that the government’s current policies are “crippling Americans by giving everyone everything, by saying that we’re entitled to everything. We’re not entitled to anything that we don’t earn,” she said.

If Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love wins her bid for Congress, she will be the first black Republican congresswoman in history.

And as such, she should be well aware that the Leftist media will seek to destroy her for daring to leave the plantation.

She should have a chat with Herman Cain.

Hey Mia, prepare to have your race used against you by your opponent, but don’t expect to get any mention of it being racism by the media.

Too bad there are not more like her. But with the libs playing the race card and the victim card at every opportunity to “keep them on the plantation” and keep them voting DemocRAT, it is going to be a long time before we see more like her.

It will probably be generations before they get tired of the “victimization lifestyle” and start behaving like REAL AMERICANS and not black victims.

God bless her.

I don’t live in Utah, but a contribution is on the way. Her attitude should be an inspiration to all. I hope her message finds it’s way to the democrat stronghold inner cities in the east and on the west coast.

She has all of my respect. She’s a very courageous woman. DemocRATS and their toadies in the state run “media” hate courageous women.

Mia’s Bio

Mrs. Love was born into a family of Haitian immigrants, she has deeply rooted values, love for this country, and guiding conservative principles.

Mia’s personal and professional life experiences, and her commitment to changing the reckless culture in Washington, have driven her to run for Congress. If elected, Love will become the first Republican black woman to serve in the United States House of Representatives.

Through their example of hard work and sacrifice, Mia’s parents taught her the value of giving back to her community. Growing up her father told her, “Your mother and I never took a handout. You will not be a burden to society. You will give back.” This has served as Mia’s guiding principle as a public servant.

As a Project Manager for economic development initiatives, Love became created solutions to local challenges. She served two terms in the city council in Saratoga Springs, Utah and was elected to serve as Mayor. Since 2009, the population of Saratoga Springs has jumped over 17,000—and Mia helped form a bedrock foundation of prosperity that continues to this day

As Mayor, Mia Love:

Aided in an economic boom by transitioning agricultural fields to booming residential communities.
Cut spending, by decreasing budgets as much as 30% and 67% in other areas during economic setbacks.
Reduced residential property taxes which resulted in Saratoga Springs receiving the highest Standard and Poors municipal rating.

Mia is not only a strong, conservative leader, she is also an inspiration to those around her. Mia instructs a running class at the local recreational center where she pushes her participants to their limits, teaching them that only hard work brings good results. Mia applies that attitude in every undertaking.

Mia is a wife, a mother of three, and conservative, ready to fight for Utah.

Mrs. Love made news recently when she took a very strong stance against the Congressional Black Caucus, and their attack on the Tea Party.

“I have yet to meet a tea party member who wants to see me “hanging on a tree,” as U.S. Rep. Andre Carson of Indiana recently suggested,” she wrote in Daily Caller.

My parents immigrated to this country from Haiti with nothing but a strong family and a solid work ethic. My father, who took two jobs to help pay for my education, was a living example of personal responsibility. He is proud to say he didn’t take a handout. When I graduated from college, my father told me, “You will not be a burden to society. You will give back.”

I respect the desire of the CBC to provide for the needs of the poor communities they serve. However, I reject the notion that dependency on government is the answer. We spend nearly $1 trillion a year on means-tested poverty programs in this country. But those programs have done little to stem the tide of poverty in America. We can no longer afford to keep spending money on programs that aren’t working. Trimming government and getting it out of the way of economic recovery is the best way to create jobs and wealth that enable people to pull themselves out of poverty.

Lord, I hope so. We need more people who love and respect our country in Congress and especially in CBC where she could support Allen West and Tim Scott.

Love 4 Utah

I am donating. God bless this brave woman. Even in Utah, being a black conservative woman is brave.

True story: I know a single black woman, living in South Florida, union member teacher (it is a requirement), who is from Boston, and she hates Hussein!

People who think people like her don't exist, I am here to tell you: they do! :)

Like I said in a previous thread, the dynamics of this will get interesting given the national implications.

Mia Love is a Black, Mormon, Woman, Conservative. I hope she cleans the clock of carpetbagger Jim Matheson.

"I am donating."

A little here, a little there. I'm pinging my lists and emailing my friends. A few bucks from lots of folks means a big difference.

See #10 and judge for yourself. Better yet, read this, then share it with others and help make a difference.

Her lapel pin appears to be a “Don’t Tread on Me” Gadsden Flag.
