Gov. Rick Scott will not respond to a request from U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin that he promptly explain how his administration will ensure "that all Floridians who wish to do so can cast their votes during the early voting period" under the new voting law.
Why not? He's tied up with session, and he didn't write the law.
"Governor Scott wont be responding to the senators letter. Hes focused on passing meaningful jobs legislation, education and PIP reform and respectfully declines to further explain a law he didnt write," spokesman Lane Wright said in an email.
The same goes for a public hearing about the law in Tampa, which Durbin, an Illinois Democrat who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, invited Scott to attend.
Scott signed the elections overhaul into law in May. The hearing is Jan. 27 at the Hillsborough County Courthouse.
Florida Sen. Bill Nelson will be there too.
I gladly second that opinion, Nelson is toast!
Uh, Durbin, ILLINOIS Senator, why don’t you get your state’s voting problems in order first, before you start messing with our state’s laws? Next thing you know, we won’t have to show a photo ID when we vote...
Sen. Turd-bin wants to make absolutley sure that his illegals get a chance to vote. I see unemployment in your future. The rise in the unemployment figures caused by you and your friends being unemployed will be welcomed by the American people!!!!!
Actually I think Governor Scott should promise to appear. At the last moment, he should send his regrets, and in his place our very capable Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll should attend.
Durbin, "Uh oh. We're here to beat up a white guy. Who are you?"
After being in office forever Nelson last week decided it was time for him to push Everglades restoration.\
Sort of trying to enhance his re-election credentials.
What a phoney.
I wrote him and told him he was full of crap/
The Army Corp of Engineers screwed up the whole river of grass and have let big sugar, citrus and cattle dumb millions of gallons of poop and pesticides in to the Glades.
And now that Nelson is worried he may finally get the boot he feels it time to take a stand?????
Hey Nelson, F you.
Dick Durbin doesn’t want answers, he wants issues. No written or oral response, regardless of the degree of accuracy and logic included, will be accepted, so a total non-response is the best reply to a bullying, intimidating, and basicly disrespectful missive such as this.
Bluster and threats may work in Illinois, but if it is not backed up by some kind of REAL clout, just stay home and shut up, Dick Durbin.
I like the way he tells Turban Durbin to kiss where the sun don’t shine——in a nice way of course.
As a native NYer who now calls Florida home, I have this to say about Rick Scott:
BEST. GOVERNOR. EVER.
Chicagoland keeps him in office year after year.
Good show, Governor Scott.
She was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad West Indies, immigrated to the United States as a young child.
Carroll enlisted in the United States Navy in 1979 rising from the ranks of an enlisted jet mechanic to retire as a Lieutenant Commander Aviation Maintenance Officer after 20 years. [E-1 to O-4, ask any vet and they'll tell you that takes some doing.]
During her time in the Navy she was awarded the Navy E Good Conduct Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, two Sea Service Ribbons, National Defense Service Medal, two Coast Guard Special Operation Ribbons, and an Expert Pistol Medal.
And that's why I voted for her and that "other guy". ;)
He also wants publicity just at the time of the Florida Primaries. Obama is becoming increasingly unpopular in Florida and he MUST win this state to win in 2012. Anybody who thinks that this is not a coordinated campaign is a fool. If this were not the "franchised government party", I would say this is RICO territory - Bah, IT IS!
Did anyone else get a chill up their spine when they read this? An avowed socialist is on an SC for the Constitution? Yikes.
In other words, SHOVE IT!
I like that Expert Pistol Medal. Heh. Fl has been lucky with our Govs and now Lt Gov.
I sure did.
The Left assigns its furthest freaks to the most important committees. Dead Kennedy, Leahy, Franken, Kerry, Durbin, Schumer . . . the worst of the worst were/are on Judiciary or related committees.
