While just about every worker has taxes withheld, many people have the entire amount refunded at tax time. With child tax credits and earned income tax credits, some people get more money from filing a return than they paid in.
Not good. Let’s not forget the “underground economy” who use cash and don’t pay taxes, but collect benefits on top of income illegally earned.
Welcome to the welfare state...
Is there any wonder why voters vote the way they do? Most get a government handout at someone else’s expense and they want more... And the minority that actually pay all the bills “aren’t doing their fair share” and are demanded to carry even more of the load...
This is how civilizations end from within.
Are you implying that there is something bad about this?
It’s not fair that rich people have the money!
All I know is I’m somewhere on the borderline. My kids are grown. No credits. I’m middle aged white. No credits. All my investments but one small, and I mean small investment, are gone.
I pay my taxes. I pay my bills. And I’m failing. I live in a trailer house. And then a coworker tells me a couple of days ago about some “friends” of his MIL. Full on illegal Mexicans. Paid off their HOUSE. Kids just got orthodontics. Get food stamps. Energy assistance. YADA YADA YADA.
He has SIX uncashed paychecks in his wallet.
My weekly only covers the bills. And we actually get to eat human type food every third day.
And they brag. And they brag.
The word, “tax credit,” is just another way to say “welfare”, “subsidy”, “assistance”, “support”, “stipend” or “aid” among many others. This applies to individuals as well as corporations making America the welfare kings and queens of the world.
Maine has hit the golden ratio. Bye-bye Mr. LePage and Maine Republicans!
Let`s see, work my fingers to the bone or stay home and get paid to do nothing ?
No brainer. Some people are just lazy and others will weigh the balance between hard work and doing with less in exchange for free money.
More welfare = super majorities for the socialist statist party aka democrat party
Finally, I see why their two RINO Senators always come down on the side of handouts and bigger government whenever it comes up.
Then add in all state workers.
I see plenty getting goodies, handouts, breaks and I am apparently a fool to keep trying to move from contract gig to contract gig.
Throw in white, male, 40ish which appears to be three automatic strikes.
The Sad Sack Nation pulling the rest of down with them.
Their is a rental house down the street with 2 or 3 families of Mexicans living in it. I saw a Health Dept. car there and was wondering if they were looking into the over crowding (living in the garage, etc.).
The next-door neighbor said “No - they just are there to see how things are going as they are on state assistance.”
I replied “Does state assistance cover the four nice SUV’s parked on the drive and lawn?” (1 is a Lexus, the other an Escalade, and the other two are newer Chevy’s I think).
Gonna be hell to pay when the checks stop coming...
I would bet this could be true in other states. This needs to go viral.
>>445,074 Mainers paid state income tax, while 453,194 received some sort of state aid.
But that is not to say that some people that pay income tax also receive some sort of subsidy - the two are not necessarily mutually-exclusive - none-the-less, it’s is a pretty scary statistic.
In SC, four nice sport-utilities might in some parts of the state. Probably a big plus in NC.
democracy is finished once people understand that they can vote themselves in more benefits....somebody said...
Socialism is a system where the lazy ultimately strangle the productive out of existence.
