So far, Newt IS getting left behind. Perhaps this will help him.
There goes the Catholic vote! That’s what occurs when Evangelical nuts endorse a candidate. Move over Newt. Santorum has the wind on his back.
it’s like you can read my mind
I suspect that before Florida Santorum and Perry will drop out and request that their supporters go for Newt.
Story to hear that.
Baloney. I’m a Catholic, and I support Newt. I don’t regard my evangelical brothers and sisters in Christ as “nuts.” Christians and Christianity are under attack the whole world over, and I stand with them, whether they be Protestant, Orthodox or Catholic.
Fortunately, most Catholics are not as bigoted as you appear to be.
The Real Clear Politics average has only a one point difference between Santorum and Gingrich in SC. A lot of Evangelicals for Rick, and Newt is Catholic.
Depending on what happens, it might be better for Newt to pull out and endorse Santorum before Florida. I think Santorum would do better overall in the South.
But he has very little chance in the general.
Tim LaHaye has called Catholicism a false religion and has a very long history of anti-Catholic rhetoric. IIRC, he was booted from Kemp’s campaign when some of the things he (LaHaye) had said hit the news.
How very odd.
I think that’s debatable on many sides. Yes, he’s stronger than Santorum, but has less baggage. The Dems will have plenty of ammo to shoot toward Newt’s long standing history in Washington.
The Insider Advantage and PPP polls from today indicate it’s a two-man race between Gingrich and Romney.
Bigoted?
Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Wright, Rev. Sharpton..Pastor Robert Jeffress....they’re all Evangelicals aren’t they? No true and “thinking” Catholics recognize heretical beliefs.
Look at the SC numbers on RCP. Only 1 point between Santorum and Newt.
If we were to use the same analogy, with Newt being a Catholic, one could say, "Well there goes the Protestant vote". Thats insane.... GOOOOOONEWT.
Yeah, well the latest poll has Mitt and Newt neck and neck in South Carolina. Rick is a solid 10 points behind with Ron Paul. I will go with what is current.
We will take all the help we can get to stop Mitt in South Carolina. GO NEWT!
I like Real Clear Politics because it averages all the polls, so there’s less likelihood of a skewed sample. It’s usually more accurate.
This is including the one you’re talking about in the average.
