...lawmakers asked Obama to delay his request so they could vote on the matter when they return.
Vote?? Why would they want to vote? That might involve real discussion and debate. Just give the dictator what he wants. That's basically what they've been doing all along.

One Trillion Dollars
Equals One THOUSAND BILLION DOLLARS....
Equals ONE MILLION MILLION DOLLARS....
So, you could give away a million dollars to a million people......

Congress has 15 days to reject the presidents request. The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default. So Zero can increase the debt limit at will unless both houses of Congress can override his veto. That's quite a deal you got for us last summer, John Boner. Quite a deal. The one power you yourself controlled -- the purse strings -- you managed to piss away.
How is this even constitutional?

But Republicans are likely to use the election-year request as an opportunity to criticize the presidents spending policiesCowardly scumbags.
ALL spending is the responsibility of the House of Representatives, with its Republican speaker and large Republican majority.

Since the GOP will cave anyway, they should just say yes now and get it over with without the beating they would normally take before saying yes like they normally do.

The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default. Which of course is another Obama lie. Default would only occur if interest payments are not met, which would easily be doable given FedGov's gigantic revenue stream.
Of course, it would also call for REAL spending cuts. Which we all know won't happen either under Zero or his RINO enablers.
