"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

So, what this really means is that Obama wants another year of fiscal brinkmanship, where his budget is DOA as soon as the House gets it, where Harry Reid never allows the House Budget bill and Senate amendments, and a joint House and Senate Committee, to be considered and approved with a final Senate agreement with the House sending clear and complete federal budget bills to Obama.
No, that would mean Senate debate on every area of Obama’s spending and Dims in the Senate having to vote on them.
No. Like last year, Obama will work again with Reid to insure continued fiscal brinkmanship where the only votes in Congress - at the 11th hour - will be just to keep the total spending and annual additions to the deficit unchanged, without any votes on specific executive branch expenditures other than defense - leaving most of what Obama is spending unchecked by a GOP house majority, just as it is now.
Who is and will be the only one in Washington who will not compromise, when it comes to Federal spending? Obama.
If the GOP leadership allows Obama to again portray them, unchallenged, as the “obstructionists who won’t compromise”, the GOP Congressional membership should replace all their leaders.

We are living on barrowed time and so things don’t seem so bad. Apparently about half the citizens and rulers of the US could care less?

While Obama spends money worse than a drunken Kennedy.Vacations, lavish hollywood parties at the WH, we have to suffer and he must spend another trillion more than the last trillion he snuck in before the trillion before that or the last.

Congress has 15 days to reject the presidents request. The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default. Why bother asking?

The Euro is tanking. Italy is going bankrupt. In Greece parents are GIVING away their young children because they cannot take care of them. Taking them to churches, etc., because they cannot afford them. AND this idiot wants to run us another $1.5 trillion in the hole. Just great. Hope and change rocks on.

what does this bring the new debt ‘cap’ to? $17 trillion?
I use it to determine the percent adjustment of the market and commodities as it directly relates to the devaluation of the dollar
either way, you can be assured the market will ‘go up’ as the unit of measure decreases
