WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is asking Congress for another $1.2 trillion increase in the nation’s debt limit.
The request is largely a formality. It’s the third and final request the president is allowed under a deal the White House and lawmakers reached in August to prevent a government default.
But Republicans are likely to use the election-year request as an opportunity to criticize the president’s spending policies.
Congress has 15 days to reject the president’s request. The White House says Obama would veto any objections in order to avoid a default.
Obama originally planned to make this request in late December. But with Congress on vacation until mid-January, lawmakers asked Obama to delay his request so they could vote on the matter when they return.

Taking them to churches, etc., because they cannot afford them. AND this idiot wants to run us another $1.5 trillion in the hole. Just great. Hope and change rocks on.

Yep! Exactly what I posted on a different thread earlier today! (That one was about the recess appointments but it’s applicable to this situation as well.)
“I just called Boehner’s office to ask what specific legal remedies the Speaker intends to take against the Executive branch for their illegal, un-Constitutional actions. No big surprise - “The Speaker believes that the President has overreached his authority in making these appointments but he has not yet determined what course of action to take.”
I told the aide that the American people have already seen Boehner stomp his feet and cry and we’d like something a little more forceful this time. I said that if he won’t immediately freeze all funds to the Executive Branch than we have to assume he is either incompetent or corrupt, but either way he doesn’t deserve the office he holds and maybe we should start investigations against him!
Doubt that it will help - there must be a special machine in DC that remove the testicles of Republicans as soon as they arrive!”

what does this bring the new debt ‘cap’ to? $17 trillion?
I use it to determine the percent adjustment of the market and commodities as it directly relates to the devaluation of the dollar
either way, you can be assured the market will ‘go up’ as the unit of measure decreases
