On Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich fought back against Rush Limbaugh's criticism of his rhetoric on Bain Capital.
FOX HOST STEVE DOOCY: I was driving around yesterday in my car, and I was listening to Rush Limbaugh, and he was talking about you and how you're going after Mitt Romney and Bain Capital.
And he said that you're using the language of the Left to beat up on Romney over Bain.
He said it makes him uncomfortable because that's what the Left will do if Romney is the nominee.
GINGRICH: Well, I don't think I'm using the language of the Left. I'm using the language of classic American populism.
Main Street has always been suspicious of Wall Street, small businesses have always worried about big businesses.... and I think people have a natural concern when they see financiers come in from out of town, take over a company, take all the profits, and then leave people who are unemployed behind.

There is no virtue in deliberately losing money.
I'm sorry if I am missing something here but I see an attack on hard working people who make a profit. I ran a small business for several years and many weeks worked 100 hours a week. I was livid because the evil RATS hated me because I made a profit and they thought they were entitled to part of my profit. The harder I worked the more government took. I never could understand if Democrats considered me to be a "working American" they loved or the "rich" which they despise.
No, this is all me going Newt.
I went Newt because that original poster (sorry too lazy to go back and learn to spell his name) has posted the Mexican picture on Perry threads many times in order to attempt to paint Perry as pro illegal.
I did not recognize the origin of the picture but when I see it, it turns me into a snarling monster, snapping at everybody and causing people to tell me to lighten up.
I am now light. I am floatng a few feet above the ground.
By the way, Perry’s criticism of Romney on the Bain matter dealt more with the general feeling that Bain took over a lot of companies and fired a lot of people, ie. the evil venture capitalist.
Perry also said that he believes in capitalism and the free enterprise system.
This is my last post on this subject. Bain Capital and what mitt romney did were two entirely separate situations. romney and his seven raiders set OUT to strip floundering companies. Bain Capital did NOT. romney was not with Bain at THAT TIME. He spent time away from Bain and went back.
Hiya again Leni!
I hope the transcript is posted this evening. I will relish reading it!
I’m sure he made the show for a lot of us! I would have otherwise been in a sour mood. Rush was such an irksome disappointment.
If you happen to come across the thread, if you will remember to please try to remember to ping me, I will be most grateful.
depends, and I see where you are going with this.
Again, I was speaking in very simplistic terms.
Wages paid to productive personnel are self sustaining, ideally. The producers also support the other costs/wages of admin, rent/mortgage/equipment, etc.
All of that is supported by {gross} profits
I know that romney has very close ties with goldman and the carlyle group. The man is so dirty and so inside the machine, I wish it would swallow him whole.
Thank you, DJ!
Not such a lofty record, after all.
It basically then looks like Romney bought out struggling businesses at a bargain rate, and just kinda got lucky when a handful of them succeeded big. That’s kinda like me buying 100 stocks and claiming I’m a business genius when 5 of them get massive gains. I’m still struggling to see where Romney did anything that required any particular skill that suits him for the presidency. It seems like anyone with deep pockets could have played the Bain game and done pretty well. His governorship was a disaster too of course. He couldn’t outmaneuver his opposition on anything and he became so unpopular he declined to seek reelection.
Ron Paul is not a conservative by any means.
Newt Gingrich is a Reaganite.
I'm in for Newt too, I just wish he would have approached this differently.
I did not recognize the origin of the picture but when I see it, it turns me into a snarling monster, snapping at everybody and causing people to tell me to lighten up.,p>It's a screen cap from the movie Blazing Saddles. Funny stuff, but it would never pass today's ultra sensitive racial muster.
By the way, Perrys criticism of Romney on the Bain matter dealt more with the general feeling that Bain took over a lot of companies and fired a lot of people, ie. the evil venture capitalist.
I could get behind Perry if he would catch some momentum, in fact I defended him when he made his famous faux pas.....could happen to anyone imo.
I, unlike many here have not engaged in the circular firing squad, in fact, I have complained about many a time here.
Right now, I am of the opinion Newt is the best we have to choose from. I don't like the way he has handled this aspect but that doesn't mean my support is waning from him.
A little disappointed, yes.
Newt Gingrich did NOT attack small business or capitalism as you, or most of us think of capitalism. If you believe that, you’re swallowing the GOP-E and going against your own candidate, Governor Perry, who’s on board with Gingrich, blasting Romney and Bain.
Fellow FReepers, lurkers, you can go to CWCT's "in forum" posts all the way back to '07 and '08 to see how true and accurate my take on him is, and to see why I RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE HERE regard anything he posts with A LOT OF SALT.
CharlesWayneCT is just as deceitful and low as his candidate Romney. The proof is right here on FR. As it happens, I've been perusing posts from back then, and my memory was refreshed. I note you don't use the term "Romney haters" like you used to -- probably because you'd get your ass kicked off this forum if you did. You never could conceive of any other reason than "hate" for people to reject your hero Romney; you preferred to attribute my and other's motivations to irrational "hate" rather than what they really were -- the recognition that limited government conservative principle ALWAYS flew, and still flies, way over Romney's head.
So here you are once again, pimping Romney, albeit a lot more covertly. And I must say, more honestly, but not by your own choice, I'd bet -- in the old days, Romney supporters spun Levin's reluctang "preferable to McCain" and Rush's cryptic "probably embodies the three legs of conservatism" to "endorsed and supported Romney!"
But you're still the same Romney pusher, using the same tactics of deceit and misrepresentation to push him.
In fact, I give you ONE MONTH before I see you here claiming that Rush praised and supported Romney today, leaving out the context in which it was done. Four years later ... the same MO.
Readers -- head's up.
I’m not an investment person but if what I read was correct, the debt was held against the company itself and not Bain. So they got profits but the companies couldn’t pay the debt. It sounded crooked when I read it. It was a CNN article so who knows if they’re telling the truth or not.
Of course they can, but that is up to the business and the people who took the risks to establish it.
Romney was the worst possible choice in 2008, and is in 2012, and he is so bad that many of us have vowed that we will not vote for him.
Romney needs to be driven from Republican politics. Romney has a life long dislike for conservatives and even left the party when Reagan was elected, Romney has a very Democrat political makeup and for years he was devoted to them with campaign support and fundraising (late 1980s-early 1990s), until he wanted to run for office, then he became a hard left Republican, re registering in the GOP in late 1992.
We don’t even know why Romney is in politics, but it isn’t for good.
Romney has been running for 20 years, and no one knows why, or what for, yet the great majority of people feel uneasy about him.
Ah, Carlyle and Goldman - thank you very much. That seals it. We can go from there. I wonder whether it’s fair to presume his closest associates are fellow Mormons?
What's BO's percentage of success?
