Sometimes voters get behind an idea, and we think to ourselves, why? Why are they even bothering when that idea, were it to become law, would be struck down as unconstitutional faster than we can utter temporary restraining order?
We smugly revisited that thought on Tuesday upon hearing that the Denver-based 10th Circuit had upheld a lower-court ruling keeping an amendment to the Oklahoma constitution from becoming law.
The amendment, overwhelmingly approved by Oklahoma voters last year, prevents judges from basing rulings on international law and specifically mentions Islamic law, often known as Shariah law.

I would like to remind everybody here that “In all cases where a STATE is a Party to the Action, the SUPREME COURT SHALL have ORIGINAL Jurisdiction” The Tenth Circuit, nor ANY OTHER INFERIOR COURT has ANY JURISDICTION WHATSOEVER over ANY STATE, and until these wussy Governors start Asserting this as the CONSTITUTION states plainly and clearly, this crap will continue. When a STATE refuse to bow to an Inferior Court as defined in the US Constitution, then and only then will we be back on track to restoring Liberty and Freedom to All.
Well I suppose they’ll have to appoint a whole lot of experts to help us all out then, won’t they?
That scares me.
“How? Judges dont serve at the whim of the POTUS as they are appointed for life. Is he planning on impeachments?”
That’s exactly what he’s planning...
If it were that easy. God help us.
The 10th Circuit has ruled to allow an international court void orders from the 10th Circuit. So just sue in the Hague to overturn this.
Under what circumstances have federal judges been impeached?
Finally a voice of intelligence in a forest of dumbies on this issue. Thank you.
Except our governor is a weenie. She is unlikely to stand up for much, except to say what she thinks we Okies want to hear. All hat and no cattle.
You’re welcome! :-))
Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have a judiciary made up of Constitution-honoring judges, but it’s not going to happen through impeachment for anything, but criminal acts. Check out the history of judicial impeachments and you’ll see.
All I am saying is, it could be done.
A Congress and a Executive combined with a reasonable amount of public support to stiffen backbones could do it. There is nothing unconstitutional about it.
Coherence and clarity bump.
The voters need to immediately put on the ballot an amendment allowing Christian teachings to be applied in a court of law. Watch the Tenth Circuit squeal like stuck pigs.
He can spearhead their impeachment. Be a very forceful bully pulpit.
Don’t give up, friend. I’m 83 and still have some hope. Damn little, but some.
That may be true, but the Constitution guarantees a Republican form of government to all the states. In the area of personal rights, the Bill of Rights is considered the supreme law of the land and whatever any state wants to enact must first be in pursuance to the supreme law of the land -- defined as the Bill of Rights and the U.S. Constitution.
This is the critical article which prevents sharia law from gaining a foothold in America.
It’s actually not true. While the 1st Amendment does apply to Congress, the courts have declared that the 1st Amendment protections apply to the states through the 14th Amendment. So, any violation of 1st Amendment protections by states is an issue in federal courts. It happens all the time.
