The case needs to be made that either Gingrich or Santorum needs to get out of the race. ******BUT LET THE PRIMARY VOTERS DECIDE****** It's not that I'm choosing either one. I'm confident that either one could beat Romney, and then go on to beat Obama in the general.

But right now the conservative vote is split. The establishment vote is unified. We conservatives can't win this way.

For you Newt supporters, I'd rather unify with your Gingrich than see Romney lose in the general.

For you Santorum supporters, I'd rather unify with your Rick than see Romney lose in the general.

And for you Perry supporters, I'm sorry but it looks like he'll be leaving soon.

I'm past looking solely at one candidate, I'm looking to preventing Obama from having a re-match with McCain. That's my #1 goal. Mitt McCain must be stopped. We already know how 2008 ended up.

Like I have been saying for days the best thing that ever happened to Romney was the Santorum surge.

Santorum doesn’t stand a chance of beating Romney, but will split off enough conservative from Gingrich to hand the nomination to Romney.

i really wish that the folks in Texas who are discussing getting behind one candidate would hurry up and do so. There is a large group of pastors and conservative leaders who are going to settle once and for all and get behind a candidate. They want to do this after the South Carolina primary, but I don’t see why they can’t do this now. I think they started discussions this past weekend.

So... you are ready to hold your nose and vote for non-Romney?

Well Newt sure did take votes away from Santorum in Iowa. I find it hilarious that you think Santorum should drop out when he has a clear win and Newt had a disastrous finish. I don't care which 3 wins but why you always have to bash Santorum is a sad commentary on you.

Exactly, been saying it as well.

Looking at the numbers here, if it wasn’t for the ‘Santorum surge’, Newt would still be statistically tied with Romney here.

Unfortunately, it will be all over and done when I get to vote.

Look at the national #s, Santorum can’t compete as effectively as Newt can. Santorum won in IA because he pandered his life away there for a year and was seemingly the only recourse left after Romney’s PAC blitz through IA.

Sorry, correction: Santorum technically didn’t win in IA.

Santorum is a big government RINO. How any “conservative” can support him is beyond me.

Happens every four years. That is how we ended up with: George H. W. Bush, Bob Dole, George W. Bush and John McCain.

National polls don’t care when it is a state by state contest. Funny how polls are suddenly important when it supports your agenda. Anyway, I want to wait and see how Santorum does in South Carolina before he drops out or maybe even Florida. However, Newt should drop out if he does not do well in SC or FL also.

It will be Mittens...When Reagan got in... it was Reagan against Bush...Conservatives need a party within the GOP and a pre primary..to pick a candidate to run against the RINO...

Problem is, the TX Primary has been moved from March to April b/c the Libs, Dems and NAACP have challenged the new Redistricting maps and it’s going to court. TX will NOT be part of Super Tuesday.

We do need to unify. Whatever happens in South Carolina, Florida will follow. Too much of the voting electorate are unfortunately complete lemmings.

I vote Newt.

I think you misread the post (I did), because it was poorly written.

He/She said (to paraphrase), “I’d rather vote for Newt than see Romney lose in the General.”

What he/she meant to say was “I’m willing to vote for either Gingrich or Santorum, rather than wind up with Romney as the nominee, who will, in turn (he/she’s implying, but not clearly stating), go on to lose the general election.”

I hope that helps.
