Call me old fashioned however IMO this would make a MUCH better vehicle all around.

The timing is perfect for me. My lease is up in fall 2012, right when the 2013 Fusion will be out. Looks like a winner.

I like it. It does look like an Aston Martin. I still won’t buy anything made by UAW thugs, though.

"Look at this car compared to the Volt, obviously easier on the eyes, but will it spark a bigger debate?" There's been a lot of heated discussion about this - and I don't want to fan the flames - but ultimately, I think the Volt is just a flash in the pan. I mean, sure, where there's smoke there may be fire, but the Volt just strikes me as something for the ash-heap of history.

It has a face. I'm tired of cars with faces.

I would like to see the following results:
Volt vs. a 74 Pinto (working or not)
Volt vs the Hugo(working or not)
Volt vs 1899 Baker Electric (probably still works)

Having cut ties to Mazda it looks to me like Ford is migrating the Mexican-built, Mazda-based Fusion over to the Volvo-based Euro mid-sized platform...prior to eventually going to a Ford designed platform which will eliminate the remaining Volvo heritage.

My first thought on seeing that was not Aston Martin, it was Mitsubishi Evo.
I’ll have to see it in person I guess, the photos don’t really floor me.
Glad to see them getting away from the over-blinged plastichrome slats on the grille, but I’m not really sure the thin horizontal bars say “Ford.” It’ll probably look good in a performance variant with all that blacked out. I’d have put the oval logo in the grille, myself.
There must be an across the board refresh coming on other Ford lines, for this to make sense in the context of Ford “family” design cues.

The Photos are out un-embargoed...
Ford is claiming the "Energi" version will be the most fuel efficient car on the road, better number(s) than the Volt or the Leaf.
Let the political comparisons begin...
The "Energi" Drivetrain version.

The grille looks like the ones on the current Aston Martins.
