Ready, aim fire. Thats apparently Texas Gov. Rick Perrys idea of relaxation before returning to the campaign trail this weekend. Ahead of Saturday nights ABC News-Yahoo-WMUR debate in New Hampshire Perry took a few moments to himself at an Austin-area shooting range.
Just relaxing a bit @ Reds Range before we leave for New Hampshire! @governorperry tweeted Friday along with a photo of himself wearing a green sweatshirt and a baseball cap with a firearm in hand.
On the campaign trail, Perry, a staunch defender of second amendment rights, has not been shy about talking about his long love affair with guns.
It was a long love affair with a boy and his gun that turned into a man and his gun, and it turned into a man and his son and his daughter and their guns, Perry told reporters before a pheasant hunting trip with Iowa Rep. Steve King in October. Its, I think, one of the great American traditions is taking your family hunting.
And Perry often boasts about the time he allegedly shot a coyote who threatened his daughters dog while on a morning run.
You know the second amendment allows me to go to jogging with my daughters dog over here and if it coyote comes out, I can take care of it, Perry said at the Des Moines Register Soapbox at the Iowa State Fair in August.
In a 2010 KTRK interview during his gubernatorial race, Perry called the shooting range my golf.

That’s a good idea! I am gonna go relax some tomorrow myself! Now the only question is 9mm or 38... Both!
Confused here. I’m in, I’m out, I’m in again, I’m immediately silent, but I’m in, I’m in New Hampshire, I’m in South Carolina, but I’m in Texas. WHAT IS GOING ON?????
A crash course in debate, once and for all? I’m confused at how this looks. It can’t be good, darn it. But don’t get me started on his inept handlers from the beginning.
I’m off this next Friday. I might go punch some holes in some paper myself. I bought a Marlin 336 30-30 a few weeks ago, but haven’t had to opportunity to put it through its paces yet.
Oak hill or Pflugerville?
What is going on is the conservative 75% who will not permit mittens to win are aligning against him, with people and money.
This is why we must help along both Ricks and Newt until Mittens is under 20%. By uniting now, romney has no chance.
Tomorrow the Brenham range.
There’s a range in Brenham?
his grip with the weak hand needs to rotate a little
That’s so naive. One moderate/liberal basically garnering all of that segment of the Republican party will beat two or three conservatives splintering the conservative vote — every single time.
Ask Bush Sr
Ask Dole
Ask McCain
Ask Willard
This weekend there is. A RINO range. Plans to move together as a contingent to knock Romney down quite a few notches.
Sad that Cain is not part of the calculus.
I agree.. Cain was my pick.. now what do I do lol.
Now if Governor Perry can take aim with good campaign strategy and bag a state for the win, I would say his target practice paid off.
Perry’s performance in the upcoming debates will need to be on target: The first is the ABC News Debate, which is scheduled for Saturday, January 7th at 9pm EST. This will, of course, be televised on ABC.
The second is the NBC/Facebook Debate on the morning of Sunday, January 8th at 9am EST. The debate will also be streaming live on MSNBC.com and on Facebook, allowing people to tune-in online.
Stay with the anti-establishment. Cain will have a voice, soon.
In the meantime, think and act the 11th commandment with both Ricks and Newt.
Perry is polling about 5 to 6% in SC.. he needs to drop out and stop splitting the anti Romney vote
nods.. speak no ill of your party,, k. I’m not sure.. Newt or Santorum. either is better than Rommie.
Good for Rick Perry!
good for Rick Perry what?
He is only going to New hampster for the debates.
