Jim Robinson: Taking stock of our dwindling conservative inventory
Jan 5, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/05/2012 11:23:02 AM PST by Jim Robinson

Tea party favorite and pro-life conservative Sarah Palin and her family were viciously attacked to the point she chose not to run.

Congressional Tea Party Caucus leader and constitutional pro-life conservative Michele Bachmann had early promise, but I guess came across as too "shrill" and consequently her numbers driven down to the point she exited.

Successful pro-life conservative Texas Governor Perry hit the race at the top but due to missteps and less than stellar debate performances soon fizzled and is now all but gone.

Pro-life conservative businessman Cain and his famous 9-9-9 plan had promise, but was driven out due to indefensible allegations.

Pro-life Reagan Revolution conservative Newt Gingrich reinvigorated his campaign and soared to the top of the national polls, but was unacceptable to the establishment and apparently also unacceptable to the "true conservatives" among us and his numbers are now plummeting

You'd think "unquestionably" pro-life, pro-family conservative Rick Santorum whose recent surge took him to a tie in Iowa and who's now surging in the national polls might be good enough to stand against Romney for the base, but looks like there are "true conservatives" now attacking HIM as not good enough.

Well, drive them all out and who's left?

Huntsman? Who? Moonbat Paul?

Ideas anyone? Should we all continue attacking the conservatives we don't like until we drive them all out?

Personally, I could easily have lived with Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Perry, Newt or Santorum and would be proud to enthusiastically support any of them, warts and all. Any one of them is infinitely better than Obama or Romney.

But if we don't land on one soon and raise him up over Romney, guess who we're going to be stuck with? And it ain't going to be pretty. And if abortionist/statist/progressive Romney (or moonbat Paul) is the one, might as well get used to four more years of Obama. I won't vote for or support either one of those two.

I'd suggest that we all stop trying to tear down the other conservative candidates in the race and instead concentrate on trying to build up our own personal favorites. Who knows? May even discover an acceptable conservative (if not a great conservative) in the bunch. We've never had a perfect conservative yet. Not even the magnificent Ronald Reagan. We and they all have warts.

But we do want to have a candidate with at least an actual CONSERVATIVE record and not an out and out liberal progressive RINO. So let's compare their records and their actual conservative accomplishments but not try to destroy them personally.

God bless and may the best CONSERVATIVE be our nominee.

Everybody on FOX News is in the tank for Romney.

Basically they GOP establishment and the GOP establishment media (much of FOX) are scared to death of conservatives, mostly because they think a conservative can’t get elected. They couldn’t be more wrong. It is when GOP politicians run as liberals, as McLame did, that they go down in flames. Why take socialist light when you can have USDA prime communist?

It is only when GOP runs stout conservatives like Reagan that they win. Baby Bush ran that way but sure didn’t govern that way.

I’ll play

1: Look up the history of his close friends Ted Kennedy in south/centeral America and John Vietman Kerry and reask the question.

2. Did we think before Obama was elected he’s do the kind od damage in ME relations he has?

3: Liberals with control of Treasury Dept are proven to proint whatever cash required

4: Sure he does. He’s a liberal too.

5: he is a liberal left wing socialist too. RE ROMNEYCARE. GUN CONTROL etc.

6: Nor has Romney - but he’s not President. Yet. See “Left wing socialist who hates guns and may well use it like Obama did to drum up anti-gun hysteria.)

7: Yes he has. Hes a global warmist.

8: He nationalized (relatively speaking) ROMNEYCARE

9: ROMNEYCARE x5 or however many times you screamed it.

What part of “NO ROMNEY NO WAY” is a problem. In Jim somehow someone people here feel free to ignore?

and apparently Newt have fallen by the wayside. I wish Santorum didn’t always look like he has a wedgey but I can live with it. . . And if Romney is the last man standing, I will vote for him.

Why would you say Newt has fallen by the wayside? He hasn't. Then you see Santorum with a wedge and you see nothing wrong w/romney - and have him as the last man standing. Nothing bias about you./s Or me either, romney is a POS and can suck in suckers only!

I’m with you. Anybody but Obama.

Many here seem to be more than willing to give Obama a 2nd term to entrench communism into our government system, rather than have a liberal like Romney. Some draw the line over his pro-abortion stance. Guess what folks, Obama is pro-abortion too.

I can’t blame people for giving up in disgust and letting Obama have a 2nd term. It is the easiest, most gratifying thing to fall on your sword and commit Sepuku. No matter who is in power you can say “but I didn’t elect him”.

I do not fear the destruction of America from 4 years from Romney as I do 4 more years of Obama, surrounded by communists and all his czars and ACORN, SEIU, Andy Stern, Valerie Jarrett, “give dem da welf!”, and the rest of his hard communist minions.

I don’t think the coal industry survives 4 more years of Obama. I don’t think the oil industry survives it intact. The schools don’t. The power companies don’t. The military sure as hell doesn’t.

I’ve been dead certain that Obama is a one-term wonder, but if we get Romney and conservatives truly go “Galt” on him, then who knows? We could get another Obama term, one in which he has no fear facing no re-election, takes the gloves off and really stacks government with communists at every level.

I think we are screwed.

I don’t blame you but I’ve decided to go down with the ship. I want to escape from California, but I’ll make my last stand in Virginia, and if it means going down in the USA, then I go down in the USA. I can’t leave my nation. There is simply no place better to go. As bad as we are becoming, there is no place better to go.

Here is a simple test.

Think of any country you might want to flee to. Imagine that country.

Now imagine going target shooting in that country with an M1 Garand rifle, or an AR15.

Now imagine using the country’s head of state for that target practice. In public.

Now you tell me what nations on earth where you can do that any day of the week and live to tell the tale, not thrown in some hellhole dungeon for crimes against the state.

Simple test.

I’m going down with the ship. My last stand will be in Virginia. Damn the torpedos... uh, commie bastards!

then you’ll get change that lasts a lifetime: 2 or 3 more liberal Supremes.

Conservative Republicans have no representation. I would like to see the Tea Party become a formal political party and run candidates on its own. Yes, for a while we would split the vote leading to a temporary succession of Democrat domination. But if it lead to the death and financial starvation of the GOP, I would be for it.

Bingo. Romney will give us another Kennedy and Souter. A lame duck Obama will try to put red communists on the Supreme Court.

And that is not even the top priority next election. That is not the biggest threat to the USA.

The single biggest threat is Obamacare. If Obama is re-elected and Obamacare is not repealed, if it goes into effect in 2013 and the lower class has 4 years to get their free medical treatment, and businesses begin dumping private insurance left and right, and all those private insurers go tits up over 4 years from lack of business -—— THEN you can kiss the US of A goodbye, because we will all be COMMUNISTS now, not just socialists.

GAME............................................OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ve put Newt into a club that he is surely a member of.

When one looks at these candidates seriously Newt has a record that points to reform and fiscal responsibility.

God bless you Jim...I’ve felt this for sometime now and I’m glad you feel this way. (note my tagline)

I sincerely think we should take more initiative in choosing our presidents many years out, vetting them, weighing our favorites...but in a more scientific matter so to speak. There are so many good leaders out there and we leave it all to chance. You’re a man in a very great position for disseminating and making things possible. Please think about how we can make sure that there’s always a good supply of conservative leadership fostered and ready to go!!!!

Get the conversation started with those that have the know-how to do it...I believe and trust you.

Santorum is the hyped up candidate of the week, but we need a president for the long haul who will roll back the Big Government that guys like FDR and LBJ created.

Gingrich has the best resume to do that.

I totally agree with your first point. Definitely not the second one though.

“I’m convinced that Newt Gingrich is the junkyard dog we need to rip Obama a new one and send him running back to his Chicago cesspool with his tail between his legs.”

I agree. I saw a post the other day that pointed out that in every Presidential election, the one who won was the more “manly” (i.e., ballsy) of the two contestants. I picture each of our remaining candidates up against Obama . . . and Newt is the only one I see defeating Obama. Santorum’s a good guy, but that perpetual “deer in the headlights” look of his is a serious detriment. (Yes, I know that’s superficial. But looks matter in elections, like it or not.)

Newt has awful baggage . . . but let’s face it, OUR side is the only side who cares about it! The Dems probably think his past womanizing is pretty cool. So, we have to decide, are we going to eviscerate our best remaining candidate for his past? We have to decide. I think we need to go with our winningest candidate, no matter what.

Obama must be defeated.

This line is a line of consistency; neither drawn by caprice, nor extended by ambition.. but produced by a chain of events, of which the colonies were not the authors.

Rollback is possible.

Newt has the best economic plan to bring this great nation back from Obama’s destruction and is the only candidate that can take the battle to the media. I’m all in for Newt.

Go Newt!

This is Deja Vu all over again.

The reason we got Obamacare is because too many Conservatives refused to vote for McCain. McCain is a liberal idiot, but the fact is that Obamacare received NO Republican votes and a President McCain would not have been pushing for it as Obama did.

Now I am sitting and watching FreeRepublic commit suicide Act II the Sequel.

It was not enough for some Conservatives to elect Obama to one term by refusing to hold their nose and vote for McCain, but now I have to watch Obama elected to 2 terms because too many Conservatives will refuse to vote at all or will vote 3rd party or write in.

Just swell. Hard communism, here we come. Obamacare is here to stay. Son of a bitch.

We are so screwed.
