General Motors plans to ask Volt owners to bring their electric cars into dealers to strengthen the structure around the batteries, according to a report.

The move is similar to a recall and involves the 8,000 Volts sold in the U.S. in the past two years.

That is the biggest planning success in the entire history of New GM. By failing spectacularly in selling the price-enhanced golf cart they christened the "Volt", Obama's appointed management kept the cost of this recall extremely low. The taxpayer cost per Volt sold is likely to go up only from $250,000 per car to $250,500 each, or perhaps $251,000 per car at most. While those numbers might worry old-style conservatives who still value the idea of making a profit, most Obama voters will be relieved that the total loss on the Volt project is increasing by less than the price of a few dozen zero-emissions cars.

Although not widely reported, the Obama led government has pumped up the tires of all vehicles and has saved billions of $$$ as a direct result.

There is therefore no need to replace the whole fleet

In the next week or so at the NAIAS, the 2013 Fusion is supposed to have it's debut.

What we know from the web.

* It will use the very good handling "Ford Mondeo" Chassis ( possibly new or upgraded )
* It will be 4 or 5 star crash Mulally will demand it.
* It will get 10 to 20% better fuel economy, (again Mulally demands ) the green car blogs are rumoring 48 mpg in the city for the Hybrid.
* It will have a good looking skin ergo the "EVOS" Show-car
