Brownsville, Texas -- Police shot and killed an eighth-grader in the hallway of his middle school Wednesday after the boy brandished what looked like a handgun and pointed it at officers. It turned out to be a pellet gun that closely resembled the real thing
"Jaime was not a bad kid," she said. "I'm not saying he was perfect or an angel, but he was a very giving person."

Normally I’m not a fan of the police, but in this instance, I don’t see that they did anything wrong. Many teenagers frequently do stupid things that can get them killed. Most of the time they get away with it, but in this instance, the thug wannabe didn’t.
The Ariticle said the school qwas on Lockdown. Tht means that the hallways are cleared and the class room doors are locked. The only way you get in is either with a badge or they go to Code Green.
A) A 15 year old 8th grader (strike one)
B) Who takes a gun (real or not) to school (strike two)
C)And then ignores police commands and points the gun at an officer (strike three)
Sorry, but I reserve my sympathy for the truly deserving. This guy does not even come close.
Probably all of us. The first duty is to protect the INNOCENT. This kid was no innocent, maybe he was a poser of a wannabe, but he was a a poser wannabe with a GUN.
BINGO!
I am a Christian, and proud of it.
I also realize that stupid people set themselves up to be killed, and I’m pleased this piece of trash did so early in his life.
You may be hiding under your bed, afraid someone will accuse you of judging others. Well, I’m not afraid to follow the Biblical command and pass judgement.
The world is a better place without this kid.
Thank you for your service and a well thought out reasonable post.

Double tap, center mass. The only reasonable way to deal with someone pointing a gun at you who has refused to put it down.
Period.
Christ said to his followers to sell their cloak to buy a sword if they did not already have one to protect them from bandits and the lawless. Paul said that those in authority were given the sword for a purpose, so obey lawful authority.
I believe that there is plenty of abuse and over-reach by police, I believe that a lot of tasering and shooting could be avoided by using common sense and better behavior by police, but in this case, shooting this kid was 100% the right call.
Its not so simple. Thinks happen very quickly, and it seems to me that based on the known facts at the time of the decision: the kid appeared to be a nutcase, with a gun, in a school, disobeying orders, and he is in an area with lots of potential targets. The cops had a legitimate chance to stop the threat, and they had no choice but to act. If the cops had not acted, then (based on the perceived facts) the kid could have killed a bunch of people. The cops had a duty to protect the innocent.
D) Who walked up to another kid and punched him in the face.
He was out to cause trouble and he succeeded. I quit teaching middle school because of these thugs. Fights break out over nothing. Schools are no longer safe havens and it's not because of the teachers. People complain about public schools but today's teachers can't teach because their time is spent trying to hold the violence down to a level of the same number of students who arrived at 8 is leaving at 3. No thank you. I'm done with that. There are just too many out of control kids these days whether it's due to prescription drugs, illegal drugs, or that they know they can get by with bs.

What’s a “gunright”?
My kid has one of those pellet guns (airsoft), and you need to make sure they get orange on them to identify them as fake.
Plus, everybody knows you don’t point things that look like guns at police officers, unless you want to be dead.
So my guess is the kid was depressed, and this was his way to commit suicide. A sad thing to be sure.

Lotsa folks are ok with however the cops act. I happen to believe, excessive force is beginning to be the norm.
DHS granting millions to law enforcement agencies around the country to beef up capabilities to para-military realm.
Cops are becoming super vigilant, Americans rights are being trampled.
Lots of y'all would be ok with this the measure of force against a little old lady. She’z holding a gun as well, why don't we just cap her?
Whatever, you guys can rail all ya want. This was a kid and with all the resources our police forces have at their disposal now days, there was no need to kill him.”””
Your profile says “You support our brave men & women in uniform”.
A cop is also wearing a uniform.
Fatalties of LEO’s on duty in 2011 were up 16%. That is a cold, hard statistic.
I think every LEO group knows these statistics, also.
Prom Picture?
Jewelry——nice dress——gun!!!!!!!
How sweet!!!!
With all respect, your comments indicate that you are not well versed in the use of firearms. The result of this is that your opinion is based not upon facts and knowledge, but upon feelings. A few facts:
1.)The pellet gun was realistic enough that the law enforcement officers were right to believe that the teenager was pointing a real firearm at them.
2.)The first rule of firearm safety is to assume that the gun is loaded.
3.)When defending against an armed assailant, the defender must aim for center mass. Winging an assailant is a Hollywood creation. So is the showdown, where the defender waits for the assailant to fire, then attempts to outdraw the assailant. It never happens because it cannot happen. Once an assailant fires, it's too late.
So while there are surely instances where cops use excessive force, this is not one of them. The cops did the right thing, the thing they were trained and paid to do to protect themselves and all those other children. Many of them my have had their lives ruined, just for putting themselves in mortal danger to protect others. So it is wrong for you to pile on and slander them the way you are doing.
Let’s say:
This kid had a REAL gun with REAL bullets.........
You have a kid inside that school..........
The cops try to talk the perp out of what he is doing.......
Kid decides to start spraying walls & closed doors with bullets........
YOUR kid gets killed....are YOU still mad at these cops????
Bet you NOT.
