..........."Romney and Santorum (like Gingrich and Obama) both go 4-for-4 on the ethanol lobby's scorecard. Paul goes 2-for-4 because he would cut oil subsidies and allow 15-percent ethanol blends to be sold, but opposes the mandate and other subsidies. Rick Perry went 0-for-4."

And we see with all of the candidates that they have issues with connections to government programs that dispense taxpayer funds to private parties - Perry included. To me it is counterproductive to attack the conservative candidates on these matters when we have Obama in the White House tearing up contract law and dishing millions and billions to his supporters and his pet agendas.
You are not gonna find a Boy Scout in this crowd. Let's figure out what is important and tell those slinging the campaign operative dirt to back off.
Subsidy sucking leaches called farmers!!!
Make ethanol illegal for automobile fuel!!!!
“Santorum being on the wrong side of National Right to Work and Jim DeMint will do him no favors in South Carolina.”
Again, we shall see. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of statement Jim DeMint makes regarding this field of candidates, if any. The one thing I know is he won’t support Romney. Gingrich? Doubtful. So that leaves Santorum and Perry.
I do think people need to focus a bit more on the big picture rather than one or two small issues. Having a principled conservative in the White House is the goal, eh?
I have to say you make a good point. We all need to bring facts forward to educate others. I certainly appreciate the info I receive from those who do the work and that would include Cincinatus’ Wife. Perhaps some things could be considered in the “that is more than I need to know category” but that is their call.
Who would you rather have dealing with Iran, Perry or Obama? Anyway, Perry retired in 1977 with the rank of Captain.
Perry is a patriotic American who loves our military. Perry is a veteran.
Who would I rather have? Neither.
Fine, who do you think is the best person to take on Iran?
The person who puts America and her citizens FIRST.
That’s a cop out, who doesn’t want that? Specifically, WHO do you want to deal with Iran?
Lost in the telling of this story is the fact that the Santorums chose to home school their children. Here's a candidate that so closely agrees with us on home schooling, that he has his kids enrolled in a program.
Instead of celebrating that fact, we are here discussing if it was naughty of him to register his kids in the district where he pays income, property, and labor related taxes.
This is a Democrat contrivance as surely as the charges against Tom Delay and Sarah Palin were. You should have recognized that and moved on. Instead you're here trying to take Santorum down using their contrivance.
Once again, from the article:
After a speech Monday at the Pennsylvania Press Club in Harrisburg, Mr. Santorum was asked to defend his use of Penn Hills funds for the charter school.
He replied, "I defend it as I'm a taxpayer in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. That's where I pay my income tax, that's where I pay my real estate tax, that's where I pay wage taxes, state taxes, I pay taxes like any other state taxpayer. And most people who pay taxes to the school district, who claim that place as their only residence in Pennsylvania, which it is, usually have the right to be able to send their kids to school."
I respectfully ask you to please quit using Democrat talking points to try to damage the political future of a good man.
Wish I could disagree with you here, but I think you’ve pretty well nailed it.
Thanks for the note of agreement Rintense.
Take care...
Some of my notes are probably more for public consumption than they are direct comments to an individual. I was pretty sure you agreed with this, and didn’t mean to imply otherwise.
Thanks for pointing out those facts. I hope you’re right with regard to South Carolina. Can’t say that I don’t have some concerns about that.
Take care.
Reason no. 2 to support Perry: Perry is pro-life. He signed a budget defunding Planned Parenthood with the result 12 Planned Parenthood have closed. Perry also signed legislation requiring a parent’s consent to an abortion.
LOL, that was a good one. I may not have liked everything the guy stood for, but he was a character, in a good sense.
I appreciate your plea, but “the dark side”?
Surely you don’t think Santorum is evil, do you?
I think ethanol subsidies are taking food off the shelves by increasing their prices. I also know that ethanol is an additive that causes damage to cars/trucks not specifically designed to withstand the corrosion of seals, gaskets, etc.
While Perry has taken the subsidies, I haven’t met or heard of a politician I can name who hasn’t in some way endorsed the subsidies for fear of tree hugger lobby vengeance. I don’t approve of any politician who supports, or gets paid subsidies.
Sorry, honey, but putting America and her citizens firsts is NOT a cop out. Of course, you’re supporting someone who gives in-state tuition to illegals so I doubt you’d understand.
The "instate" tuition issue was not controversial in TX. The legislation passed 170-4. Many other states have passed similar legislation.
TX did this because of the failure of the feds to deal with illegals, TX was stuck with them and they made lemonade out of lemons.
When it comes to ethanol subsidies, I agree with you.
I don’t think it’s right for the government to subsidize this industry. It does have a negative impact on food prices.
My ideal candidate would not have received these subsidies or supported them.
While in Iowa last June, Santorum stated publicly that he wanted to phase out Ethanol subsidies. I believe that’s the direction he should be going.
