State wildlife officials are seeking public comments on the status of the American pika in California. This tiny member of the rabbit family, a high-mountain resident, is thought to be threatened by climate change.

. . .

Comments must be submitted by March 15 to Department of Fish and Game, Nongame Wildlife Program, Attn: Scott Osborn, 1812 Ninth St., Sacramento, CA 95811; or by email to pika@dfg.ca.gov.

Probably delicious but it would take quite a few for a decent size stew.

Stew? Exactly! With potatoes, carrots, and the right amount of spicing!

a high-mountain resident, is thought to be threatened by climate change.

If they live in the high Sierras, they deal with climate change all year long.

Give me a break.

I think California should impose a pika tax on "the rich" in order to save the pika from climate change.
Anyway, I always thought pika was a font setting on my IBM Selectric.

All the Pikas I’ve talked to are for global warming.
“I freeze my tail off up here”, said Peter Pika. “If you want to help us out, start shooting eagles! One swooped down yesterday and grabbed Carl. Filthy, stinkin’ buzzard cousins.”

SAVE THE PIKA. Shut down all commercial and personal economic activity and all carbon fuel consumption immediately. It’s for the children too so do it NOW!

Deep fried in tempura.

Tastes like a mix between Spotted Owl and Condor with a hint of Mountian loin.

They are so small that it takes about six of them per skewer.

The Pikas have their own e-mail address in the California government. Man, if that doesn’t prove California is nuts, I don’t know what will.
“Dear Pika; my boyfriend wants me to go all the way. If I do, will he still respect me? signed Wondering Wendy”
“Dear Wendy: cheep! cheep! cheep! (translation - Here comes an eagle!) Peter Pika, Secretary to the Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner of Pika Affairs.”
