Liberal talk show host Alan Colmes sunk to new a new low when he said on Fox News that former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum took his deceased baby home to 'play with it.'
Noting that the GOP has "speed-dated" every other candidate, Colmes said voters should "get a load" of what he called the "crazy things" Santorum has said and done.
"Like taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple hours so his other children would know it was real, I mean..."
At this point, Fox News contributor Rich Lowry tore into Colmes, calling his statement a "cheap shot."
Lowry lambasted Colmes for "mocking" the death of Santorum's child and said it was beneath the liberal talker, sometimes known as "Skeletor" among some conservatives

Whom exactly are you claiming that Santorum told that ‘made it a public issue’? You sound like you’ve never heard of ‘opposition research’. If you don’t know exactly whom ‘was told’, you can’t honestly claim that Santorum made it a ‘public issue’, can you? So why don’t you drop your unfounded assumptions - you sound almost as bad as a-hole Colmes himself.
Who knows? Maybe he was making a point concerning the value of human life - every human life. Perhaps he didn't think baring his soul over such a personal matter would have political repurcussions down the road. Maybe he isn't aware of how disgustingly low the level of political discourse has become in this country.
I must admit as cynical as I've become that some would make an issue out of this surprises even me.
Watching you get roasted for your sick twisted comment has been delicious.
William Fichtner?
I agree with most of that, except this.
Nobody, I mean NOBODY would have know about this if Rick Santorum had not, himself, told the media about it.
Anyone can assign a value to it as he is a POTUS candidate now. They can decide if it's important or not, and whether it affects their vote.
RICK SANTORUM BROUGHT THIS INTO THE PUBLIC SQUARE.
Only an a-hole would even consider it a public issue.
For Rick Santorum, Politics Could Hardly Get More Personal

This article is over six and a half years old AND the portion about Rick Santorum prefaced discussion regarding partial birth abortion and its horrors.
CONTEXT, people.
Colmes should be shit canned for this one.
Oh jeeze....man up a little, will ya?
Though Colme's crack about 'playing' was indeed tacky, you have to admit that taking a dead baby home is just this side of ghoulish.
I think it weird when little kids are being encouraged to lean over into a coffin to kiss Grannie goodbye, but this is beyond that.
Now you may disagree, but you ought to be able to see Mariner's point without thinking its some outrageous, out-of-bounds and 'oustable' comment.
Not a single poster has responded rationally.
He was forcing that into peoples mindsplaying with dead bodies. (Marxist twisting of words to create intentional perceptions.)

You are exactly right. He is a sick, demented, evil man. I stopped watching Fox nearly a year ago because of Shep and others that are flaming liberals. This just reaffirms my decision that I did the right thing.
So I guess if we lose a child at birth, we should just “shut-up” about it....yeah, sorry, my baby IS a part of my family..whether on Earth or in heaven.
That is great :D
Go to Hell, Alan.
“Nobody, I mean NOBODY would have know about this if Rick Santorum had not, himself, told the media about it.”
Really? Private issues never come up? Tell it to Senator Jack Ryan. Look it up.

Alan is the undisputed Queen of cheap-shots on Fox news.
Might it have been Howdy Doody?
Indeed ... you couldn’t bring the kids into the NICU and the hospital morgue isn’t the place to say goodbye. Perhaps the funeral home but as someone else posted, that’s a relatively new thing. Birth - and the occasional childbirth death - occurred at home and the family got to say their goodbyes.
