LIVING PRAYER
Brother Lawrence was a monk who lived almost 300 years ago and worked in the galley of his monastery. He wrote a book, The Practice of the Presence of God, which today is considered a classic in the area of Christian devotion. Brother Lawrence spent much of his time in the monastery scullery scrubbing pots and pans. He also had a collateral duty as the monastery cobbler. In these jobs, he said, he learned to glorify God in simple tasks and to pray with his hands. By bringing to each small job the best of his ability, he developed the practice of living prayer. Whether he was bustling around the galley, repairing shoes or kneeling in prayer, he learned to grow spiritually as well as mentally and to cultivate a never-ending, ever-deepening sense of God's presence.
Each day you do hundreds of small tasks. Perhaps you feel at times unrecognized or unnoticed, or that your job is insignificant in the great scope of things. The fact is it doesn't matter what you do or what position you hold. What really matters is the spirit in which you work, and how you approach your work. Brother Lawrence teaches us an important and very wise lesson: Even the simplest tasks, when done to the best of your ability, are important in God's eyes. Whenever you bring to any job the best of yourself, your fullest mind, an honest heart, and a striving for excellence, then your work, no matter what you do, becomes like a living prayer to God.

Here's to health and happiness!
A toast to the New Year!
Peace and joy to all of us!
Prosperity and cheer!
Years come and go, some bad, some good.
New years provide the space,
Each to fill with what one would,
Windows onto grace.
Years come and go, yet still we toast
Each one, for each one seems
As though it were a new-found coast,
Rich with hope and dreams. Thanks, unique, for the troops new year.

Lets Be Ready
January 1, 2012
Happy New Year! Looking forward to what this new year might bring, I cant help but wonder if 2012 will be the year when Jesus comes back. But then I also wonder if Im ready.
All of my life Ive had to be ready. As a child, I had to be ready for dinner by washing my hands. As an adult, being ready for important responsibilities continues to be an ongoing reality. But Ive come to realize that nothing is more important than being ready for our reunion with Jesus.
Speaking of Christs return, John tells us that everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself (1 John 3:3). Looking forward to Jesus return fills us with hopenot a wish-list kind of hope, but a solid expectation that motivates us to keep our hearts from sinful distractions and rivets our attention on becoming more like Him. If we really believe that this might be the year of His return, we will be more ready to forgive, to seek forgiveness, and to share Gods unconditional love with others.
As we consider the possibility that Jesus could return this year, lets be sure that we are ready. Lets strive to be pure as He is pure, anticipating the day when tears and sorrow, pain and death will all be replaced with the everlasting joy of His presence.
Expecting Jesus soon return
Will help us live a life thats pure;
For if were ready when He comes,
We will not be ashamed but sure. Sper
Wanting to be ready for Christs return will make a difference in the way we live.
Read: 1 John 2:283:3
Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself.
1 John 3:3

Good evening, teen, and Happy New Year to you and yours. *HUGS* Thanks. My Dad, in several sessions, cleared the new snow to the sides of the driveway. A little more activity for him.
Big doings downtown. They flood they town square for ice skating. Games, food, ice sculptures...if I had a kid to take we might be going. Then the biggest fireworks of the year. The city whiners outlawed all fireworks in the city unless you are 200 feet from any building. Won’t stop folks. People complained their animals were scared.
Your Marines celebrating? Safely and sanely, of course?
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
