It was Peggy Noonan who suggested that, especially during difficult economic times, voters look for a father figure, which Barack Obama decidedly is not. (He’s the “bright, lost older brother,” she wrote.) Noonan thought Romney just might be the GOP candidate who most evokes the father figures in 1950s and 1960s sitcoms that, in her words, “terrorized and comforted a generation of children from non-functioning families.”
If Romney managed to convey that impression even before his sons started to stump for him, then their presence on the campaign trail can only enhance the image of Romney as a wise, stable head-of-the-household — because, unlike Huntsman’s daughters, Romney’s sons are not snarky or silly, but down-to-earth, sincere and relatable. Yesterday, four of the five Romney sons (the fifth was absent only because he’s in the midst of his medical residency) met with Republican voters at a coffee shop in New Hampshire. What they had to say about their father was fresh and encouraging. Reuters reports:
The boys stuck mostly to the campaign playbook of emphasizing the candidate’s record as a businessman, having rescued the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and run the neighboring state of Massachusetts as governor.
But they also gave a glimpse of their father’s personal values.
“My dad has more energy than anyone I’ve ever seen,” Josh Romney said. “He is also tremendously cheap.”
As children in Belmont, Massachusetts, the boys said they learned not to leave the tap water running too long, or they would get a rebuke from their father, who was in the process of building the venture capital powerhouse Bain Capital.
“Congress would learn pretty quickly that they’re not going to get money from my dad either,” Josh Romney said. …
“My dad’s image couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Matt Romney, 40, who works at a real estate investment trust in San Diego. “If you see him in other settings, he’s the most fun guy out there. He’s always joking around.”
It’s undoubtedly a sign of my wide-eyed optimism that I often fall for campaign gimmicks — from Herman Cain singing “Impossible Dream” to Jon Huntsman’s vamping at the keyboards to this — but it does seem to me that Romney’s case that, as a person at least, he has lived consistently and conservatively continues to acquire greater credibility. I first began to follow Josh Romney on Twitter when somebody retweeted a tweet of his that included a picture of his dad and mom sitting in a couple of hotel armchairs in advance of a GOP debate. When I looked at the picture, I felt an overpowering sense of comfort. Here was a familiar scene. How many times — in advance of some event — has my dad, in button-down shirt and jeans (which happened to be what Romney was wearing in the picture), sat across from mom in a little hotel sitting area, talking about this or that idea? Does any of this make Mitt Romney politically other than he has always been? Of course not. But his sons’ presence on the trail reminds me that we have and could do worse than to nominate him or any of this year’s supposedly “weak” GOP candidates.

Liberals seldom understand sarcasm. Back to original, is that I would refrain from attacking a sarcastic thread vs a really stupid liberal thread. FReep away, but be cautious in your travels.
Obviously this is a Conservative website, so it's very clear that Zero won't be winning any Conservative Red states. Newt will Win both the Red Primary States & then win the General Election States

Are you a Moderator? We obviously both agree that Romney and his loser sons are the focus of the bashing on this thread and if you are a Admin, please accept apologies for any misunderstanding.
We are on the same page as we know that both Romney and his loser Sons will never be promoted on Free Republic. What we can both agree on is that Romney and his hack sons need to be bashed constantly.
And we both agree that there should be no confusion that when an article is posted about Romney and his loser sons, that it should be obvious that it is a barf alert as their opinion means jack to Conservatives.
Moderators never show their stripes but it would be wise to check a posters history and intent before you attack. Especially when your posting rights are 2 weeks old. Free Republic is very addictive. I wish you a very Happy New Year!

That’s what was confusing, usually the thread will include the Barf Alert or the first comment will include acknowledgment that the thread is presented to show media bias. That’s what was confusing. Appreciate that you detailed why it’s important to not start bashing without checking the background of the poster. Happy New Year to you!
It takes time to understand what certain posters post. You jumped the gun. Consider it a blessing. If you took the time to read all of Ms. Malkin’s site you would be closer to the truth.
I give more credence to Newt’s daughter’s endorsements than I do Willard’s sons. Calling their Dad a cheapskate and expecting that to equate to being fiscally responsible with the People’s money doesn’t fly, expecially when we know he doesn’t live like a middle class working man. It’s like saying Bill Gates is really frugal because he can’t possibly spend all the money he has - having a lot left over = frugal.

Let me clarify - every man has the RIGHT to so employ his resources; it’s my OPINION, bolstered by considerable life experience, that such “showcase” possessions do little to enhance one’s life, but generally show the possessor to be a captive of the expectations of others.
Just my opinion.
Are these the sons Romney said didn’t serve in the military but served their country by campalgning to get him elected?
Hows about this: Nobody who owns an 11,000 sq ft home can believably lay claim to being a skinflint :-)
Years ago our family went on our yearly Christmas vacation to St. Thomas. We stayed at the Marriott and Mitt and his wife were in the room across from ours. This was right after his loss to fat Ted. My son mentioned this the other day and wondered why with all his wealth he wasn’t at the Ritz or on some other glitzy island. Next year, he was back, again.
While I would support Newt if he were the nominee. I can't see Newt attracting the crossover voters. Newt would draw blood from Obama and it would be fun to watch. But I am certain he cannot beat Obama.
I am ready to vote for the repub who has the best chance to beat BO. Right now that looks like Romney.
