Matt Romney may not want to count on inheriting his dad's millions.
Mitt Romney's son stole a bit of the news cycle on Friday after he joked to a group of seniors in New Hampshire that his dad would release his tax records when President Obama released his birth certificate.
"He has not said that he will not do it, he has also not said that he will. I think it's a matter of time until that issue comes up because I think everybody has to get a chance to do that. And so I don't know the answer to that, I'm not sure if he knows the answer to that. But he'll do everything that he needs to," Matt Romney said, according to Patch.com.
"He's certainly not afraid of anything, not hiding anything you know, I heard someone suggest the other day that as soon as Obama releases his grades and birth certificate and sort of a long list of things, then maybe he'd do it. That was just a "
Then, Matt's brother Tagg quickly cut in to say, "That was not my dad saying that."
Matt quickly backtracked saying, "No, no no, that was just a suggestion."
The slip is an especially embarrassing one for the Romney campaign, which has tried to stay above the conspiracy theories in the party that the President was not born in the United States.
The President released a copy of his full-form birth certificate this year after needling about the issue from Donald Trump and other outspoken conservatives.
Romney, as have most mainstream Republicans, has never questioned if the President was born in the United States.
Last week he said he wasnt sure he was going to release his tax forms.

HA, The copy he released was a forgery made to prove it could be done. And this gang ran with it like the liars they are.
These needs to be emphasized. This joke is not a gaffe. Matt needs to stand by the joke.
Let’s put aside the birth certificate. Obama has never released ANY of his school records. That’s legitimate, and shouldn’t be in the least controversial. Is ANYONE in the media ever going to ask about his college or law school transcripts?
That’s a gaffe? I think that’s a great answer. Give that boy an extra pork chop at dinner.
Meet one demand, and the screaming hordes just go for another. Let them scream about one instead of many.
College transcripts would certainly be interesting, but I am very curious about his passport(s). If I recall, a FOIA request revealed zero applications for US passports by Obama. So what country’s passport was he carrying when he traveled to Pockyston, France, etc. as a young adult?
But, but, but - Mitt SAID that his boys served their country by assisting in his campaign for the presidency! What unMITTigated gall :-(
Uh, I’m betting it was a JOKE...plenty to say about Romney, but his son sputtering off some lame joke is a bit OTT.
Gotta too-rare guffaw outta me!
Good. ;>)
Why is it a “gaffe” to ask for information on obama but it’s expected that we all see Mitt’s information?
The kids inherited that rare genetic condition that allows them to speak out of both sides of their mouth at the same time.
That was no gaffe.
Maybe the kid can run for president.
Sounded like he was trying to make a joke...where is the gaffe exactly?

Was this really a “gaffe”? Or was it calculated? Mentioning the birth certificate AND grades was important. If the Obama crowd goes after the B.C. comment later, they will be forced into defense over his grades (and who paid, passport records, health records, etc)
