An off-duty police officer has been charged with executing a man in a sports bar - after an argument over a game of darts.
Riverside County sheriff's deputy Dayle Long, 42, allegedly shot Samuel Vanettes, 36, three times, leaving him to die on the floor of the bar in Murrieta, California.

An altercation allegedly broke out after the police officer told one of the friends 'Im better at darts than you are', Chris Hull, 39, told Patch.com.
'My buddy says, "Aw, you suck at darts". (The man) says, "Thats why Im a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'
Hull tsaid his friend asked; 'Really, you can do anything?'
The police officer then pulled out his gun, Hull claimed and after the group repeatedly asked him to put it away he 'pops three rounds into my friend Sam'.
The ten-year department veteran appeared at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley in a red prison uniform, on Friday charged with murder.

‘Im a cop, I can do whatever I want’
and now... you can do time.
Good analysis... another comparison is the whole Air Jordan insanity.
Speaking of the UK, why are there so many such US stories in UK papers?
Back then you were a "citizen."
Today you are a "civilian."
I am not. An increasing bulk of cops have become brownshirts with no regard for non-cops. They have nearly perfected the we/them mindset and will become increasingly dangerous as they acquire recent military cast off equipment as well as a military view of “ us” as the enemy.
Yet we have people worried about citizen carry and think nothing about cop carry.
Back in the day, I remember numerous stories of NYPD cops shooting each other and by-standers in bars. I also recall, circa 1980, my first visit to Dallas, at the airport bar (and all drinking establishments in Texas at the time) there were signs reminding patrons that firearms are not allowed in drinking establishments in Texas. (”Check your shootin’ irons at the door, gentleman.”) Good policy.
BTW, why do we need to read about these stories in the British press?
Because the US MSM is busy running Obama's reelection campaign and can't be bothered reporting news stories about the plebs.
Beat me to it...his pic made me think ‘Terminator 2’ immediately...
What $300K salary? Rank and file representatives and senators get $174,000 per year, the Speaker, 223,500, the Senate Majority and Minority leaders, $193,400, each.
Probably because a lot of the UK newspaper sites get much of their traffic due to hits from Drudge Report links, so American stories must be very profitable for them.
Of course there's also the "America is turning into a freak show" vibe going on...
No surprise.
I am wondering how this will be excused or dismissed however.
Good thing he wasn’t a NC conceal carry license holder.

“You must rezspect mah authoritay!”
And there is a segment of our population that believes it is the normal citizen who needs to jump through many more hoops to ask permission, jump through a much more rediculous training requirements (in some states), and pass mental evaluations before carrying a firearm for “lawful, self-defensive” purposes...
One of the places most of us can’t go is to a bar and drink while carrying...
Obviously this knucklehead didn’t get that memo...
That color jumpsuit looks pretty good on him...
It’s a shame there wasn’t a dog in the bar or the deceased might still be with us.
Yeah, that’s what we need. Unarmed cops against against ethnic gang members, drug cartel thugs and organized crime mobs. What a wonderfully great beautiful attractive idea. The next time teenage girls attack a senior women, we can call the unarmed cops. Boy, what a brain trust-quality idea.
I think it is more likely that our media filters out stories based on political considerations, and the UK doesn’t care (at least in terms of US stories).
UK tabloids are all about sensationalism and since the US is six times more populous than the UK and is English-speaking, there are six times as many sensational stories to choose from as there are in the UK. If a UK tabloid needs copy, the US is a rich resource.
“”””””””””Very misleading article.
It makes no attempt to recount what actually happened. It rather presents one sides version as the truth. Towards the end it quotes a relative of one of the witnesses, hearsay in its ultimate form.
The situation may very well have been exactly as described here, but this article doesnt come close to proving it. There is an equal chance theres much more to the story.”””””””””””””””
They wouldn’t have arrested him if he didn’t do it.
