An off-duty police officer has been charged with executing a man in a sports bar - after an argument over a game of darts.
Riverside County sheriff's deputy Dayle Long, 42, allegedly shot Samuel Vanettes, 36, three times, leaving him to die on the floor of the bar in Murrieta, California.

An altercation allegedly broke out after the police officer told one of the friends 'Im better at darts than you are', Chris Hull, 39, told Patch.com.
'My buddy says, "Aw, you suck at darts". (The man) says, "Thats why Im a cop, I can do whatever I want to do".'
Hull tsaid his friend asked; 'Really, you can do anything?'
The police officer then pulled out his gun, Hull claimed and after the group repeatedly asked him to put it away he 'pops three rounds into my friend Sam'.
The ten-year department veteran appeared at the Southwest Justice Center in French Valley in a red prison uniform, on Friday charged with murder.

Rot in hell Dayle.
I thought Obama was the only one who could rightfully make a claim like that?
Dayle Long
I remember a time when cops were helpful, mellow and had an ability to protect and serve. Now many I run into seem like they have an "above the law" attitude.

Many, many, many, cops have the same attitude.
I’m surprised ol’ Dayle wasn’t working in Seattle.
I was hoping there would be more to this, additional witness comments, such as someone threatened the cop with a knife, or weapon. The bar had lots of people in it, and was said the be happy hour. There was no comment or statements from anyone in this article or others, that would support/justify shooting the victim 3 times. The victim was unarmed.
This is *really* beyond belief.
Is anyone even moderately surprised by this story?
I am.
Thus the monitor...Pig.
Once thought to be extinct the long skulls return to eradicate earthlings
According to this article and others so far, there was not even a fist fight, shoving match, nothing, between the cop shooter and the victim, with the victim being unarmed. No fight, no pushing, no nothing, just some exchanged words, and 3 rounds into the victim.
Yeah, I am extremely surprised by this.
What we really need is an unarmed constabulary, like in the UK.
This kind of thing, while rare, also falls under the classification of ‘American Social Decline’.. Just as bad, if not worse, than hordes rioting in the Mall of America or Walmart.
Three quarters of a million dollars in debt as a law enforcement officer? They allow this now?
Too bad he didn't Glock himself in the head in the comfort of his own living room. He would have saved himself and everyone whose ever crossed paths with him a whole pile of trouble.
I bet when Pandora's Box is finally opened on this guy, there will be found a great many other miscarriages of justice that the Riverside County Sheriff's Office will be having to sweep under the rug. Every criminal this fiend has ever arrested can claim that Long was a dirty lowdown evidence-planting deputy.
Good going RCSO Internal Affairs background check and psychological evaluation team for new hires. You helped Dayle Long kill a citizen and God knows what else he's done in his career.
Disgusting. Find out who his friends on the force were and search up their colons with a microscope. Evil cops seek each other out and form little covens.
Very misleading article.
It makes no attempt to recount what actually happened. It rather presents one “side’s” version as the truth. Towards the end it quotes a relative of one of the witnesses, hearsay in its ultimate form.
The situation may very well have been exactly as described here, but this article doesn’t come close to proving it. There is an equal chance there’s much more to the story.
Even if completely true, it demonstrates that unstable men given guns and power tend to prove the old adage about power corrupting.
Is anyone really surprised?
