George Will might have fired the first shots and the Wall Street Journal and National Review might have answered the call but the leader of Establishment Medias war against Newt Gingrich is now clearly Charles Krauthammer of Fox News. The long time former speechwriter for ultra liberal Walter Mondale uses several minutes of his time on the Panel each and every night to denigrate Gingrich personally while talking down the Former Speakers election chances.
Remember, this is the man who was calling Barack Obama elegant long after most Americans had seen through the teleprompter said C. Edmund Wright of Winning Our Future, a Super PAC supporting Gingrich and conservative issues.

I’m ordinarily a Krauthammer fan, but I’m getting sick and tired of him trashing all of the Republican candidates and blaming them for the alleged increase in the obozo’s polling numbers. (A) I don’t believe that the obozo’s poll numbers are increasing, and (B) any one of the Republican candidates would be better than the obozo (well, not Ron Paul - he’s too much even for this yellow dog Republican). But instead of finding something positive to say about any of our candidates, Krauthammer routinely trashes them all.
GO GINGRICH!
CK richly deserves the smack down.
Ditto for Rove and several others at Faux News.
Well, I just learned something new today. I didn’t realize Kraut wrote screed for Fritz back in the day.
Krauthammer was attacking O’Donnell after the Deleware Primary, and he praised Obama’s Arizona speech.
I’m sick of all the pundits. 0bama is neither intelligent nor eloquent. Oh, he’s a lazy sack as well. Can’t say this though or you’re raaaaaaciiissst!
I am hoping Santorum surprises in 2nd place in Iowa. Let’s see Krauthammer bash him.
Gingrich has done more for the Conservitive movement in this country than anyone running for President
Krpahammer.
Didn’t know he worked for that nutjob Mondale.
Given who is running for president this year, that's not much of an endorsement.
I guess the next question is whether there's a time limit on these things.
Richard Nixon was very good and valuable during the Hiss-Chambers case, but by the time he finally won the presidency, his record and prospects weren't so bright.
Krauthammer is no friend of conservative values.
IMHO, it is simply inexcusable for a supposedly right leaning network to make such an obvious distinction between their favorite (Romney, of course) and his nearest competitor.
And I'm not alone. Check out this article in the The Hollywood Reporter: Year End Cable News Ratings: MSNBC, CNN Up in Primetime while Fox News Takes a Loss
You are right that it’s not much of an endorsement given who is running.
However, it is true what was said — and he has done more by a wide wide margin.
Krauthammer has stated on more than one occasion that the tea party is just throwing a tantrum in supporting the “anti Romney” candidates and he fully believes we will all “fall in line”, hold our noses and vote for Romney like we did for McCain in 2008. He is delusional.
Not only that, but he never voted for Reagan...either time. He is very late to the Conservative side of the aisle. For some reason I think of Dr Strangelove when I see him prattle on with his venom towards the GOP Candidates.
“Im sick of all the pundits”
Same here. I’ve only been watching Fox&Friends and Cavuto.
There are very few who have done nearly as much for the Conservative movement as Newt. I cannot believe the treatment he is getting on Fox, I especially can’t believe it of CK. George Will’s attack on Newt was not unexpected, Will has never been consistantly “Conservative” and I quit
reading his column years ago, he’s at best an “apologist” for Conservatism.I have been really disappoined with many on Fox, not for their praise of Romney but for their attacks on Newt and for their Glee when he dropped in the polls but their “collapse” was not a “collapse” and he is very much alive and we’ll see who stands after South Carolina and Florida.
Kraut is practically a paid shill for Romney at this point. I used to like him but I’m getting sick of it.
