HONOLULU The Obama administration and Saudi Arabia have reached an agreement approving the sale of combat aircraft worth nearly $30 billion to the Saudi air force, the White House announced Thursday.
The deal clears the way for the sale of 84 new F-15SA fighter jets and the modernization of another 70 already in the Saudi fleet, plus the production of munitions, spare parts, training, maintenance and logistics.
Saudi Arabia is a key U.S. ally in the Arab world, especially because of its ardent opposition to Iran, which intensified earlier this year as Iranian operatives were alleged to have attempted to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States.
This agreement reinforces the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and demonstrates the U.S. commitment to a strong Saudi defense capability as a key component to regional security, White House principal deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.

Just finishing what the Clintonistas started.
Why do the Saudis need a military? We do all their fighting for them!
Who was MOST threatened by Saddam Hussein? Saudi Arabia.
How much money did THEY spend in Desert Storm, “Enduring Freedom”, etc??? How many men did THEY loose???
Bastards - both on the receiving and giving ends. Hope somebody stuffs a lot of pig lard in their fuel tanks.
So, we now know the _resident is expecting a fall of the Saudi government? Or, has he got a clear channel to his real friends?
I think that besides the C-130, the F-15 has been in production longer than any other military aircraft.
I believe that distinction goes to the A-10 and the B-52 IIRC
The last Buff was built in 1962.
What about the F-4 Phantom II? I think the C-130 probably carries it. I don’t think a new Buff has actually been built since the mid-60’s. Remanufactured, yes. New-build, no.
The I think that the A-10 and F-15 are roughly equal, but I am not sure if they are still in production. As for the B-52, I and really sure that a new one hasn’t been manufactured in decades.
I am pretty sure that the F-4 hasn’t been manufactured since the 1970s.
I misunderstood what you are asking. I guess you meant to ask, “Of the aircraft still in active use, which are still in production, and which of those have been produced the longest?”
That would be the C-130 by a country mile. New A-10’s haven’t been built in over 20 years. Fairchild-Republic Aviation is long out of business.
Bovine excrement.
The Saudis are the NO 1 (financial) sponsors of Islamic-Jihad/Terrorists worldwide and that does not include their support of Mosques and Madrasas which uses text books published in the Kingdom which promotes anti-American/Jewish diatribe and advances Islamic Supremacy and Hegemony.
If only we were allowed to developed our vast and plentiful energy resources then we could tell the House of Saud (and other Mid East turd-world hellholes) to eat their sand.
The Chinese built their version of the Mig-21 way past 2001. They were also building the H-6 bomber (derived from the TU-16) until a few years ago.

You wonder why they would be building a fighter that has been outclassed for 30-40 years.
The UH-1, CH-47, and CH-53 all started production in the early to mid-60’s.
Roughly half of the B-52s ever made were chopped up in the desert in "good faith" the Russians would do something in kind. They are still laughing at that.
And of them, the UH-1 has not been manufactured in over 30 years and the CH-53 for quite a while. But I stand corrected about the CH-47, it is still in production.
There’s a very simple reason for that-they had made limited progress with developing technology or new assembly lines for newer aircraft like the SU-27 and J-10 later on. The Mig-21 clone was a cheap and reliable aircraft. Besides there was export interest for the type from countries like Pakistan until early last decade.
