Gingrich Campaign Says It Has Raised Almost $9 Million
NY Times Politics Blog ^ | Dec 28, 2011 | By TRIP GABRIEL

LE MARS, Iowa — Newt Gingrich’s campaign said on Wednesday that it had raised close to $9 million in the last quarter of the year, a significant improvement over the six-figure sum it raised over the summer, reflecting a flood of small donors who responded to Mr. Gingrich’s debate performances and propelled his surge to the top of polls this month.

But as his momentum has evaporated under the assault of rival campaigns, especially those of the better financed candidates Mitt Romney and Representative Ron Paul of Texas, Mr. Gingrich plans to spend nearly all of his available cash in the remaining days before the Jan. 3 caucuses, including $500,000 for television advertisements.

“We will have a positive balance of cash on hand — hence I’m still getting paid,” said R.C. Hammond, Mr. Gingrich’s spokesman. “Any good campaign three days before the Iowa caucuses won’t have a lot of cash on hand” – because it will deplete its resources in an all-out effort to do well.

Besides television, the campaign is spending noticeably on an eight-day bus tour here, Mr. Gingrich’s first, and on a four-person staff from New York who arrived this week to identify supporters at campaign events, all of which have been well attended.

Mr. Hammond pointedly compared Mr. Gingrich’s fourth-quarter fund-raising total to that of Senator John McCain at the same point in 2007. Mr. McCain, reduced to “living off the land” with scant funds in Iowa, lost here but went on to win the nomination.

But no matter how Mr. Gingrich does in Iowa — a poll Wednesday showed him in a statistical tie with Mr. Paul and Rick Santorum, behind Mr. Romney — he will face serious money challenges going forward...

I made another donation to Newt’s campaign yesterday. That should put him over $9 million. Hahaha. GO NEWT!

While I would like to have a different set of candidates to choose from, these are our choices.

Too bad we can't just take what we like about each and create 'the perfect candidate' from all those best features. *sigh* ...back to reality...

It's a coin toss, since one never knows how the office will affect the newly elected and all their campaign promises or what s/he will do with all that power.

None the less, Newt has the best potential of becoming as close to the President we wish for and has the skill to repair our Republic as compared with any of the others.

Again, it's a coin toss. One vote, one bet on our future.

But if obama wins, it's over. Tell your kids and grandkids you're sorry for spending their national inheritance by betting poorly.

If Gingrich has all this money, then why hasn’t he been spending more time in Iowa? And why is he cutting back on his bus tour?

What coin toss? Between Obama and Romney it’s heads the godless socialist statists win, tails Life and Liberty loses.

The coin toss is that you don't know what you'll get voting for a politician.

You do your due diligence regarding the choices in front of you and hope for the best once they're in office.

Regarding Newt or Mitt? I'll take my chances with Newt. Newt may be many things, but he'll never be a Massachusetts politician.

But he might be a hero again. He answered history's call once before as a leading player in the Reagan revolution.

The bet is he can finish what they started. Viva la Reagan Revolution!

We KNOW what we’ll get with Romney. He’s already told us and demonstrated that in Massachusetts:

Are we going to need like 900 million dollars to defeat the Marxist?

20 million dollars per week. 3 million dollars every day. Wow.

Newt needs a total of 10 million this quarter, just lacks 500,000. He needs 10,000 or so to send him 50 or so.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if he made it today, the last day of 2011!!

Give me a break!

This is the best “conservatives” have to offer.

Newt Gingrich?

The same guy who dumped his cancer stricken wife for his new squeeze?

The “private sector” lobbyist who used his insider DC connections to rake in millions?

The same Newt who agreed with Mittens’ health insurance mandate?

The “converted Catholic” Newt?

Newt Gingrich is nothing more than another self-serving DC whore and you and this site are a joke for supporting him.

Jim Robinson is a delusional Newt Gingrich supporter!

Never thought I would see the day!

FR has officially jumped the shark!

First off Happy New Year Freepers!

I will support whomever the Republican candidate is but see both u mentioned as part of the problems that got us here...so excitement over the candidates to me has become.... Too much of the same old same old. But Americans are survivors, just too bad our leaders are such sell outs to their own political opportunistic well-being.
