With the Iraq war over and troops in Afghanistan on their way home, the U.S. military is getting down to brass tacks: culling generals and admirals from its top-heavy ranks. Pentagon officials said they have eliminated 27 jobs for generals and admirals since March, the first time the Defense Department has imposed such a reduction since the aftermath of the Cold War, when the collapse of the Soviet Union prompted the military to downsize. The cuts are part of a broader plan to shrink the upper ranks by 10 percent over five years, restoring them

The remark about our military is a bit bizarre. They vote for/against their commander-in-chief every four years like everyone else, but they follow orders.

As for Greece, its main problem is that it is a far-left welfare state gone-broke. But a major reason for that crappy state of affairs is the popular backlash against a right-wing military coup a generation or two ago.

Remember the old saying, “You prepare for peace by preparing for war”? Guess that got put on the shelf too.

I’d say keep the military brass and dump the dumb ass politicians and non-productive government leaches.

Ford Motors did something pretty stupid a few years back and wish to this day they had not dumped their senior engineers. It came back to haunt them for a while but it seems they saw the error of their ways since Ford didn’t need to be bought out by the Government.
