Would it bother you to know that the federal Centers for Disease Control had been shown your daughters health records to see how she responded to an STD/teen-pregnancy-prevention program? How about if the federal Department of Education and Department of Labor scrutinized your sons academic performance to see if he should be encouraged to leave high school early to learn a trade? Would you think the government was intruding on your territory as a parent?
Under regulations the Obama Department of Education released this month, these scenarios could become reality. The department has taken a giant step toward creating a de facto national student database that will track students by their personal information from preschool through career. Although current federal law prohibits this, the department decided to ignore Congress and, in effect, rewrite the law. Student privacy and parental authority will suffer.
~~snip~~
... on Dec. 2, the Department of Education rejected almost all the criticisms and released the regulations. As of Jan. 3, 2012, interstate and intergovernmental access to your childs personal information will be practically unlimited. The federal government will have a de facto nationwide database of supposedly confidential student information.

Maybe Congress, if it had any Gonads, could ignore the DOE and defund the entire department.
Wow, that’s frickin’ scary!
George Orwell, please call your office...
DOE is immune to HIPAA? Why am I not surprised.
Time for a doctors “black market”.
Hey, I don’t have any kids but, if they want to watch the two next door, or the three down the block or the four across the street- and make sure they’re not on my lawn...well...I say, more power to ‘em!
these people can’t help but get into every aspect of our lives in an attempt to control / dominate us
this crap must stop
HAHAHAHAHAHA- I crack myself up sometimes.
Thank you for posting this as I don’t have the patience or finess to post up. Read this and was stunned at the Obama regime, which is my usual state when it comes to all things Obummer.
For progressives (communists) the people are property of the state, especially the children who need to be trained to government standards.
Why do this to a generally successful culture? Why are they trying to divert the American self-reliance success story to something that has failed over and over?
It must be money although I’m not sure who is at the top of this heap and why they’re not content with what they have....I know...stupid comment...but I truly don’t understand the mind set.
The resources (funding) for the DOE should be transferred to border security - perhaps they can track illegals with this crack ‘control’ they intend for legal citizens.
Please make your ping list aware of this.
This is precisely why I decided to homeschool years ago.
Me thinks by now that parents should no the last safe place for their kids and grandkids is the public school. They are churning out little future Marxists unabated as we sit wondering what happened to our country. Still, what really do we do about it? Nothing. And such grooming will resume in January, unabated, right after Christmas vacation.
“parents should no by now”
How embarrassing. Forgive. “Parents should know...”
They want a lowest common denominator *chav* culture as you find in modern Britain.
How about if the federal Department of Education and Department of Labor scrutinized your sons academic performance to see if he should be encouraged to leave high school early to learn a trade? ...................................... That’s not anything new. Board of Cooperate Services took students out of school to learn at a trade school. As a former teacher, I feel it is a great idea. Our kids aren’t all cut out to be doctors, lawyers, or rocket scientists. Some people work better with their hands than their brains. One must be happy in what they are doing, if your goal is high and you have the ability to achieve it, then go for it. If its something that will make you happy, then who is to say no. Our problem in schools, as I see it, is student motivation, not Gov’t. intervention. There are vocations out there that the average student is completely unaware of, as in most cases their parents too. Its not all bad.
That’s the Democrats for you!
