And here's the latest "update":
============================================
On December 27, 2011, Political Wire reported that Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson would not seek re-election, and asserted that Kerrey was in talks with senior Democrats about the possibility of replacing him.[22] The Washington Post reported that Kerrey would neither confirm nor deny the rumor.[23] ==============================================
I wouldn't put it past the NE 'RATs to "persuade" Kerrey into "un-retiring" for the "good of the party", like they did with Lautencorpse in NJ.
Scott Kleeb actually did run for office again. In 2008, he ran for the Senate against former Gov. Mike Johanns. Johanns beat him pretty handily, 58%-40%. Kleeb only won eight counties, all sparsely populated in the middle of the state except for Lincoln-based Lancaster county, where he barely edged out Johanns by a point. Kleeb also ran pretty far behind Obama in the Omaha area.
So Kleeb ran statewide and lost big in the best Dem year in NE since 1988 or so? Maybe he should stick to posing for Liberal Tiger Beat magazine.
If Kerrey runs, it could be very competitive (assuming that Kerrey still has it in his gut). Without Kerrey, I stand by my characterization of the race as a certain GOP pickup.
If Kerrey was close to deciding in favor of a run, wouldn’t the Dems have leaned on Nelson to wait for Kerrey to commit before announcing his retirement? I think that the Dems know they’re up excrement creek without a paddle and are throwing a Hail Mary to Kerrey in desperation (sorry for the mixed metaphors).
I can’t imagine Kerrey running again. Besides the fact that he turns 70 in 2013, it would’ve been 18 years since he ran a race and he left the state to go run a leftist moonbat college in NYC. To run at that age for an iffy run to serve in what will probably be the minority just doesn’t sound very appealing. It’s not like he can make another run for President, either. Sad part is, he’d still probably be the Dems strongest candidate since they have no farm team whatsoever.
Why not contact the Nebraska GOP and find out what and who they are planning on? If we don’t start pushing our own Republican leaders here in Colorado then we have no right to complain when no one steps up to run. I am not going to sit back at home and wait for some action by the Colorado GOP, I want to contact them and get involved, no more just sitting on the sidelines and “hoping” for the best.
I think we would all be pleasantly surprised to find our help would be much needed and appreciated. I sat on my hands when our Senator Bennett was shoved into office, I thought there is nothing to be done but now we have Udall up for a rerun and I am hoping to have family and friends do everything we can to rid ourselves of these parasitic, democrats in the Senate. We can and must all pitch in. Best of luck to Nebraska, hope you find a great conservative to take Nelson’s place

He knew last year he wasn’t going to run again, that is why he voted for Obamacare.
Don’t forget about Scott’s wife, Jane Kleeb. She, along with Bob Kerry, are the names I keep hearing on the street. Jane is a political analyst and was very involved in the Keystone Pipeline issue that captured both parties here in Nebraska.
The fact of the matter is that the Republican candidates are currently generating very little buzz. Heineman must have something better to do because he could walk away with this election.
With all these clowns bailing out, it makes one wonder what they know that we don’t, especially with the new lock up laws with no trial. They KNOW the big crash is coming and bailing out now in hopes that the “unwashed masses” forget who they are. Not a chance, clowns! We’ll never forget who brought this upon us. Ever. They can run but can’t hide.
If Bob Kerrey decides to stay in New York, who does that leave?
In addition, if DemocRATS don’t nominate a feasible candidate, Republicans can go for the most conservative choice, since electability will be a moot issue.
He's done his damage now he can retire with his portion of 0bama's (lack of) budget money appropriated to save the country financially.
What a bunch of G-D d@mn selfish, crooked, money launderers toting strait faces.
Two words: The Laut. But in NJ, it was more of a safe bet.
The Green Papers lists these Republicans:
Attorney General Jon C. Bruning
state Senator Debra S. “Deb” Fischer
Patrick J. “Pat” Flynn
Treasurer Don Stenberg
One Democrat has filed: Larry Marvin
Too bad the idiot RINOs dont get the message as well.
BUMP!
