A very interesting discussion is taking place on Vortex-l, the online email discussion list for cold fusion, where a poster nicknamed “Aussie Guy E-Cat” is sharing information about Fleischmann-Pons Experiment (FPE) devices he has obtained from an Asian source, and which he plans to use to commercialize and demonstrate that Fleischmann and Pons were correct in their cold fusion claims.
In the discussion thread Aussie Guy writes:
The 2 cells were obtained from an Asian source. They are on loan for 3 months. The source will work remotely with our local uni to get them operational. They output greater than 1 watt with a COP greater than 5. We are funding the work at the local uni. The uni can publish the results from the cells we make locally. The source has received an up front payment. They will receive further funding as the cells are proven to work by the local uni and further funding when our replicant cells become operational.
We plan to make our replicant cells available to other FPE researchers. These cells are not capable of delivering a E-Cat or Hyperion level of performance. They are designed to prove F&P were correct, the FPE is real, to silence the FPE deniers and drive scientific investigation of the FPE. Our desire is simple. To accelerate the acceptance of the FPE, to get the effect properly understood and to see FPE devices powering our planet. OK, along the way to make a few dollars as well.

This poster had hoped to purchase a 100 kW E-Cat plant from Andrea Rossi, but Rossi was not willing to sell a scaled-down large plant, so it appears that Aussie Guy has looked to other sources for small-scale devices to demonstrate the reality of cold fusion. The fact that he is working with a local (Australian) university will be of interest to the many people who have been hoping for independent third party testing of cold fusion devices by qualified scientists. AG says that eventually the plan is for him to manufacture simple FPE demo devices that can be sold to the wide market.
This is another interesting development in what seems to be a growing momentum in the area of cold fusion research, and the positive results reported are encouraging news for all who are hoping to see a rapid emergence of a new and improved energy source for a world that is very much in need of it. 2012 could be shaping up to be a banner year for cold fusion!

1) We need to agree on what constitutes proof.
2) Instead on the lame Intrade, let's just put the money into FR.
3) Easy, people gamble X amount of dollars, it would be easier to match folks up. Say Kevmo and me bet one hundred dollars on the Ecat, I obviously don't believe it, Kevmo does. Say Kevmo wins our bet. I would then post that Kevmo has won this bet and I have donated one hundred dollars to FR in his name as per agreed upon rules.

4) While theoretically it could go on forever, anyone who has done the chess board bet where you double your bets per square knows it doesn't take long to owe more than the Earth's GDP.

Side issues:

a) When will we just call it quits? If nothing happens in two years, I might get a might bit bored.
b) What constitutes a win? Having cousin Cletus verify that his ecat is a hundredbazilions milllion time more efficient than Texas Red hots doesn't, at least to me, constitute much proof.
c) We need to agree on testing methodology, who we would accepts as valid scientists (please, no one select Joseph Newman) and test time. Boiling water for five minutes might seem impressive to the folks on the left side of the bell curve but most folks would not be too impressed.
d)SO, we need a set time of running on it's own, or as Rossi says, "Self Sustaining". I would prefer that any device should be able to power itself but some might consider that a large barrier to entry (so what?).
e) All device must exist and run in an essentially hermetically sealed chamber with all its reactants identified, weighed and their isotopes before and after.

I forgot something. We need to measure any nuclear output, Gama Rays, Neutrons, asbestos or lack of any, X-rays, others known and damaging (or) not rays. Obviously devices generating a lot of damaging emissions need to be cordoned off and insulated or whatever they do.

Then if it's OK with everyone, we'll just bury these devices and see what happens in fifty years, and you thought Idiocracy was a movie, ha, it's happening now. Now remember, your Government doesn't lie to you.

The idea that Rossi is building a million E-Cat units in the next few months, but he still can't provide the technical specifications is laughable.

I've predicted it before, and this is a perfect example of it: Rossi will never produce a working E-Cat device. He won't produce a legitimate customer (although he may produce a shill who will claim to be happily using their E-Cat without producing any evidence of it).
