Paul Goldman, a Richmond lawyer who is a former Virginia Democratic party chairman, is helping represent a conservative group in challenging Newt Gingrich's disqualification from the Old Dominion ballot on March 6, Super Tuesday.

Ok, well, someone is working on this mess...
The only mess is that the candidates had simple rules to follow and some of them failed, including the "smartest man in the room". What an embarrassment.
So we're just gonna ignore the statutes of the Commonwealth of Virginia to get there.
I’m glad Gingrich is getting legal help’ There is and has been for years way to many cases of ‘Chicago’ politics by both Dems and Repubs. In this Virginia situation I believe some people applied a decision way apart from what two sections of law distinctively specify.
I read they changed the rules last month. If that is true, the fault lies with the VA GOP.
That question needs to be presented to Rove and Romney.
If the rules for signatures for the Last Presidential Election were used Gingrich would be on the Ballot,he got enought signatures ,the rules were changed and the RNC arbitraraily chose him to have his Signatures crossed checked, some people moved so those namnes were taken off. The RNC wants him off period
From all the previous articles posted on this that I've read, this has nothing to do with Virginia statutes. This is solely the Virginia GOP Party Rules for getting on the primary ballot. Which I'd assume Newt and/or his people would know. Or any GOP candidate.
(The RATS rules are prolly "put your 'X' here anytime up until election day")
Rove & Romney are whistling as they distance themselves from all this. From time to time they share a satisfied grin.
Exactly right. And given the fact that the Lt. Governor is Chairman of the Romney campaign, one can safely assume who is behind all this.
Why are they so afraid of having all the names on the ballot? Isn’t Mitt the shoo-in?
It’s an open primary anyway, so they let anyone and everyone of any party vote, but yet they micro-check the addresses of “certain” candidates. That’s nuts.
I say, put all their names on... at least allow write ins.
‘The only mess is that the candidates had simple rules to follow and some of them failed, including the “smartest man in the room”. What an embarrassment.’
Not as embarassed as the Americans (media, congress, justice etc.) who knowingly let a usurper soetoro/obama/barry/soebarkah, marxist/muslim liar take over the oval office despite his dual allegiance and citizenship and doubtful place of birth!
That’s because the RNC is in the Rove bag and thinks the only possible candidate can be Romney because they think wrongly that Romney is the only one who can beat BO.
When did they find out 10 days ago ? This thing doesn’t pass the smell test. I believe in the rule of law, but only 2 people on the ballot and it has never happened before.
It is probably because he is the only one that they want to beat BO.
Following the rules to the letter belongs to a kinder, gentler time. Dems have never cared about rules, for example, unless they can be bent in their favor. They have “ruled” in Wisconsin that all signatures -— even “Mickey Mouse” and “Donald Duck” -— are valid on the Recall Governor Walker petitions.
So why should obvious, bona fide, Republican presidential candidates have to jump through hoops in each state to qualify for the ballot? I hope the candidates who are appealing their disqual in Virginia win, and appear on the ballot.
So, in other words, just because Democrats do it, it makes it OK? We’re not talking about a race of Democrats. Virginia prohibits writing in “Mickey Mouse” and “Donald Duck” on their ballot in POTUS races anyway.
