Is Michelle Obama's spending 'spiralling out of control'? First Lady 'insisted on $4m trip to Hawaii when her husband wanted local vacation'
Michelle Obama insisted on a pricey holiday to Hawaii when her husband would have rather gone to a presidential retreat, according to reports.
She allegedly wanted the taxpayer-funded $4million trip when Barack Obama sought instead to make the short trip to Camp David in Maryland.
Political sources told the National Enquirer that the 47-year-old’s spending is rocketing and she even went on a shopping spree before the Hawaii trip.

‘The President’s advisers have told him that Michelle’s spending has spiralled “completely out of control”,’ one source told the National Enquirer.
‘Barack read his wife the riot act, but his words fell on deaf ears. Michelle said there was “no way” she was going to disappoint her daughters.’
The First Family has already attracted criticism as their annual vacation in Hawaii this year is likely to be their most expensive ever.

Mary Todd was a spendthrift. Big time. The level of her out of control spending shocked and worried Lincoln, and it was openly mocked.
Then again, she lost a young son in 1863, and her oldest child was off to war. Her husband was reviled and she was shunned by DC society. Not a happy existence.

The china and another $800,000 came came from private donations to a fund set up to not only provide new china for the White House but to refurbish parts of the White House itself. But the leftist press lambasted her neverthe less.

She’s just getting her reparations. As a whole, blacks are a net loss in terms of federal income tax. So in her mind, she’s spending whitie’s money, and even better, whitie’s kid’s money. Kids who have been dumbed-down by the teacher’s unions to such an extent, that they’ll be enslaved by multi-generational debt like the Irish peasants of old Britain, and she married a British citizen too.
Add in thousands per night for lodging, cost of Secret Service, liquor, lobster, ICE CREAM, you get to that number very quickly.
Travel time for Air Force One direct from Washington D.C. to Hawaii is about 9 hours or $1,635,813 each way for a total of $3,271,622 for the round trip to Hawaii and back.
The cost for USAF C-17 cargo aircraft that transports the Presidential limos, helicopters and other support equipment to Hawaii was not made available. However, the flight time between Andrews Air Force Base and Hawaii is at about 21.5 hours roundtrip, with estimated operating cost of $12,000 per hour. (Source: GAO report, updated by C-17 crew member). The United States Marine Corps provides a presidential helicopter, along with pilots and support crews for the test flights, which travel on another C-17 flight. That is $258,000, not including costs for the 4 to 6 member crew’s per diem and hotel.
Mrs. Obama’s early flight to Hawaii costs about $63,000 (White House Dossier), but add security and personnel for a total of about $100,000.
