Newt Gingrich planning economic pivot, will contrast with Mitt Romney
Politico ^ | Dec 23, 2011 | By JONATHAN MARTIN

Newt Gingrich is planning to turn to a sharp "jobs and growth" message both on the airwaves and in over 30 appearances next week in the final run-up to the Iowa caucuses, according to campaign officials.

Gingrich's campaign, acknowledging that they've seen his Iowa numbers erode under an intense assault, said the former speaker would use a new round of post-Christmas TV commericals and a bus tour across Iowa to draw an implicit but clear contrast between his economic plan and that of Mitt Romney. Gingrich aides are also prepping a round of endorsements from conservative economists and supply-side thinkers to reinforce their message.

"We have the most aggressively supply-side plan - Reaganomics 2.0," said a senior campaign official. "[Romney] wants to disavow Reaganomics."

This official said they'll be drawing differences in three specific areas between the two candidates:

-- Capital-gains taxes (Romney would eliminate the taxes on gains for those making up to $200,000; Gingrich would eliminate all capital-gains taxes)

-- Corporate tax rates (Romney proposes cutting the corporate income tax from 35% to 25%; Gingrich wants to reduce the corporate rate to 12.5%)

-- The flat tax (Romney would retain the current graduated income tax system for individuals; Gingrich proposes letting taxpayers file under the current system or switch to a flat 15% rate)

Gingrich has sought the high ground by repeatedly saying he wouldn't attack his rivals, and his advisers claim they won't do any traditional negative TV ads. But they say the former speaker will, at least implicitly, make clear at every Iowa stop the differences between his plan and that of Romney.

“...implicit but clear contrast...”

What the implication?

I would have phrased it Explicit and Clear....

The press was having a heart attack after they calculated the tax cuts to be more than 1.4 trillion dollars.

I call it a nice start.

Go Newt!

The only thing the Paultards are going to accomplish with any victory in Iowa is prove Iowa's irrelevance in the primary process. Period.

Viewed the latest YouTube of Newt in South Carolina at the Marlin Restaurant. It was great and outlined his policies he would implement including these fiscal policies. He did a great job and an excellent job of pasting Obama -— unlike Romney (lib in conservative wool).
