Alan D. Bersin, commissioner of the 57,000-employee U.S. Customs and Border Protection, will resign effective December 30, he said Thursday.
Bersin was appointed to the post by President Barack Obama on March 27, 2010. He notified the president of his resignation Thursday, he said in a statement.
"My service as commissioner has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my public life," Bersin said. "I am immensely proud of the significant and meaningful achievements we have made on our borders and at our nation's ports of entry over nearly two years.
"Through innovative solutions and strengthened partnerships, we have measurably strengthened border security, enhanced our ability to prevent potential terror threats, streamlined the entry process for lawful trade, and expanded our trusted traveler programs," he added.

The guy expresses no frustration whatsoever.
“Why it was pure bliss.”
Gag me!
New to me. But I’m a bit lower on the food chain, so I’d probably find out about it sometime next year.

The Monty Python defense. My goodness. Joltin’ Joe Lieberman announces a Senate Homeland Security investigation on F&F “inter-ageny miscommunication” and the head of Border Patrol runs away the very same day.
Getting out before that stuff hits the fan
Gurgle!!! Ping.
That, and he’s probably sick of working for a bull dyke.
The Monty Python defense. My goodness.
Yep.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!
Hmm, I wonder how many more are going to jump ship hoping to avoid legal hot water.

Thanks for the info.
From Foxnews:
More than a year ago, Bersin said he “absolutely” planned to stay at CBP beyond what his recess appointment, which requires the Senate to approve his nomination to serve beyond the congressional term. Bersin said he had hoped to prove himself to skeptical members of Congress in the months ahead.
“Recess appointments have a history in all administrations, and I expect over time that people will come to see that it was a good choice, and I look forward to that. I look forward to earning that confidence with members of Congress,” he told a group of reporters in April 2010, a month after becoming commissioner.
But the commissioner, who was first nominated to take the job in September 2009, was criticized by some in the Senate for failing to document the employment eligibility of those working in his home. As head of an agency responsible for protecting the borders, that remains an issue.
Yep, isn’t it?
Just received Bersin’s farewell message. He said that he asked President Obama to withdraw his pending nomination.

‘Rat, meet sinking ship.
