can this be right?
4155/52 (weeks) = 80 per week in gas?
I drive 140 miles a day and I dont spend that much
Gas finally dropped below the $3.00 mark in our area.
3120. For one truck.
We are lucky to live close in and my husband takes a train to work.I’d say we paid less than $3,000 for gas last year. But folks living way out in the suburbs ...woe to them. They live cheaper, but make up for it in terms of time and money spent commuting.
We choose to live in an older more run down place vs. add years to our lives constantly sitting in traffic so we can live in a mcmansion.

Yeah, but I’ve got a lot of people beat in the parking department!
I use my car about 30 weekends a year. The total cost of having it is not that high for me.
I don’t drive much at all. My insurance agent advised me if I can prove I drive less than 12 a year, I could get a discount.
I called my lovely trusted mechanic and told him. He looked up my record and started laughing.
Getting my papers together now (he has me on record for the past 10 years), with that discount I could probably get insurance for my apartment for next to nothing.
Also a discount for having multiple insurances.
I sure would love to have to drive only 5000 miles per year. I put that much mileage on my car in two months - and I am not alone - - -
“The United States is still very much in love with the automobile, with a national average of 2.28 vehicles per household.” http://www.autospies.com/news/Study-Finds-Americans-Own-2-28-Vehicles-Per-Household-26437/
“Average annual fuel consumed per vehicle (gallons) Passenger car - 554 gallons” US.Dept of Transportation- http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004727.html
Assuming these numbers have not changed significantly from those surveys, the average American household paying your suggested $3.50/gallon this year spent 3.50 * 2.28 * 554 = $4,421 this year for gasoline... even more than this report.
“Demand for oil has has actually went down world wide due to the slow down in the economy.”
World demand has gone UP, not down, according to IEA chart on bottom right.
A 3000 gall propane delivery truck has over $10,000 worth of product on it.
Demand has went up since 2010 but the graph is misleading since it does not include demand earlier than 2010.
World wide demand for oil has dropped since the peak in about 2005-2007
“...try heating a 2800 sq ft house with PROPANE. Propane is $3.35/gal!!!!!!!!!!!”
Oy, I feel your pain!
At least we have natural gas for our heat and cooking.
The electric bill is an outrage though.
Hubby says we’ll never see $2 gas again in our lifetimes, but I think I’ve heard that before.
DRILL GOSH DARN IT DRILL!
“World wide demand for oil has dropped since the peak in about 2005-2007”
World oil demand by year from previous IEA link shows records demand in 2010 and projected again for 2011 in December update.
