Kim Jong Il's body laid out for mourners
CBS News ^ | December 20, 2011

PYONGYANG, North Korea - The body of North Korea's long-time ruler Kim Jong Il was laid out in a glass coffin Tuesday as weeping mourners filled public plazas and state media fed a budding personality cult around his third son, hailing him as "born of heaven."

North Korea's official television showed still photos of Kim in the coffin surrounded by wreaths, his body covered with a red blanket and his head on a white pillow. A giant red curtain covered a wall behind Kim.

Kim Jong Un — Kim's third son and successor — visited the coffin along with top military and Workers' Party officials and held a "solemn ceremony" as the country mourned, state TV said. One woman apparently wiped tears from her eyes.

As "CBS Evening News" anchor Scott Pelley reports, what's happening inside North Korea now, and what will happen in the coming days and weeks, remains largely a mystery.

In spite of the public rally around the young Kim Jong Un, his youth and lack of command experience relative to the senior military leadership in the country, mean even seasoned North Korea observers can't be sure who's in charge of the impoverished nuclear power with a history of unprovoked violence. (Watch the full report in the player above)

Kim died of a massive heart attack caused by overwork and stress, according to the North's media. He was 69 — though some experts question the official accounts of his birth date and location.

Although there were no signs of unrest or discord in Pyongyang's somber streets, Kim's death and the possibility of a power struggle in a country seeking nuclear weapons and known for its secrecy and unpredictability have heightened tensions in the region.

JACKASS CBS.

DISGUSTING.

Just read it:

"Kim died of a massive heart attack caused by overwork and stress." Almost as if it is an accepted matter of fact. Don't they realize that nothing is trustworthy out of that horrific, lying place??

If the were true journalists, true to their respected profession, and not the socialist sucking libs they are, why they would write it like this:

"The official North Government government version is that Kim died of a massive heart attack caused by overwork and stress, however this can not be independently confirmed."

Now THAT is JOURNALISM. A lost art and profession it seems. I guess cub reporters who are interning while studying at Columbia U. are manning the overnight desk there at SeeBS.

I wonder if the NorKs have mummified Kim's father (Kim Il-Sung) and will do the same for Kim Jong-Il? The NorK population could then have two demigods to pray to in Pongyang.

Whether the son, Kim Jong-Un, has the ability to succeed his father — that is, the ruthlessness and drive to do the murdering and scheming required — remains to be seen. There are plenty of sharks in the tank called the North Korean government.

Dude, maybe you want to dial it back a bit.

Kim died of a massive heart attack caused by overwork and stress, according to the North's media.

You seem to have dropped this from your rant. It was on the original excerpt.

There are many examples of media bias, but this is not one of them.

The article says this about the burial:

Kim's body was in the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, a mausoleum where the embalmed body of his father — national founder Kim Il Sung — has been on display in a glass sarcophagus since his death in 1994.

As far as the son, it does remain to be seen. Kim Jong Ill was groomed as heir apparent for many years, the son only a few. I read one article where it was said that the son is just like his father, if not more hardline and ruthless. If that is true and he takes control, may God be with those people because the new boss will be worse than the old boss.

Kim Il Sun is embalmed. Yes. If you have high level clearance, you can go in and see him. But first you must a) put on special coverings over your shoes, and b), line up in threes and bow deeply before a statue of him before being led into the side room of elaborate marble where he lays “protected” by four armed KPA soldiers, under plexiglas. My guess is they will just make a dual mausoloeum, and embalm Kim Jong il constantly as well as they do carcass of Kim il Sung, and place him under glass next to Dad. That will save them a hell of a lot in construction costs for a new huge ass mausoleum for the Chia Head.

I read one article where it was said that the son is just like his father, if not more hardline and ruthless.

1 Kings 12

This did not work out well for King Rehoboam:

13 And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;

14 And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Explanation of people crying and sobbing uncontrollably in North Korea over Kim’s death: Those who cry the hardest and most visibly get to leave North Korea.

Its a wonder the photo shop wizards have not taken a crack at it yet. Such as placing “Looter Man” the background, and like, or a sobbing Michelle Obama.
