Baghdad (CNN) -- Iraq's Judicial Committee issued an arrest warrant Monday for Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, who is accused of orchestrating bombing attacks.
The warrant was issued under "Article 4," which is terrorism.
The Interior Ministry, at a news conference, showed what it called confession videos from people identified as security guards for al-Hashimi, the country's Sunni vice president. In the videos, the men described various occasions in which they purportedly carried out attacks under direct orders from al-Hashimi.
One man said he carried out assassination attempts using roadside bombs and guns with silencers. He said the orders came from the vice president and at times through the director of his office.
CNN could not immediately confirm that the men in the videos were bodyguards for al-Hashimi.
Three of the vice president's security guards were detained earlier this month.
Al-Hashimi's office did not answer calls from CNN Monday.

First the Iranian refugees, now the Sunni. Am I cynical, yes and taught by history.
Get ready for total chaos followed by invasion from Iran. The hegemony will be mind boggling. What a waste of lives and money.
Correct.
With the US Army gone, it is now a great time to start settling old scores and for the dominant Shiites to seize control. Probably look for civil war by Christmas.
He is presiding over the beginnings of the creation of an Islamic Caliphate IMHO. But that's not surprising.
With all the players in place, yes it will proceed without delay. Iran won’t invade, they’ll be invited. As shown on earlier report one sect is beginning to run north, don’t remember or care if its shites or suunies, different shade same bunch who in the end will either kill us if we don’t kill them.
Iran is 90%+ Shia, 4-9% Sunni
No matter how bad things get in Iraq, the MSM will be telling us it’s Obama’s showpiece success story in foreign policy up to the election. No lie is too big to tell with this president and his minions in the MSM.
The conquest and withdrawal from Iraq was a gift to Iran, something they never could accomplish during the Iran-Iraq War: do away with Sunni control and bring Iraq into the Iranian orbit.
Good Grief! That didn’t take long!
The not very slow train wreck that is Iraq after the end of the US occupation is just the natural consequence. Did our presence help or hurt the pacification or post-war Iraq?
Either way, we are no longer able to afford an open-ended commitment to defense of civilization in lands where being civilized is an alien concept.
Absolutely. This is the consequence of our blundering in and meddling in a part of the world where our only interest in in securing cheap sources of fuel - not acting as referee for people who hate us just as much as they hate one another. Our policy should be one of economic self-interest in the area, pure and simple. Not some idealistic crusade or a futile attempt for false ‘stability’ at all costs. We can buy cheap oil from despots just as well as democrats, we’ve proven that in Saudi Arabia.
You're probably right. It's been their way of life for millennia, and there's no reason to think it will change unto the end of time.
And they’re not done yet.
Perhaps mObama can attack more nations for Iran.
And yet Obama still has a legitmate chance of winning in 2012. We are doomed!
Absolutely!
He got it right.
Iran’s fingerprints are all over the Shiite PM having the Sunni VP arrested.
Nuc them all. Take the oil.
Any questions?
If Bush didn’t freeze up, the same imperative by which we took out Sadaam should have been followed by toppling Assad in Syria and at least reducing Iran to a non threat.
We had an enormous army there to do it. Then we put our tanks in garages and let Iran and Syria bleed the situation.
But then, only time will tell.
Why do we need their oil? Anyone who would consider nuking them would also be smart enough to know that we can use our own resources and reserves... ;)
