Like so many Conservative Americans, I put my hopes into Herman Cain. I thought: "Here's a Conservative Black man who really could defeat Obama." Then, the gales became a "perfect storm". I was devastated but still "believed" in him. "Hang in there Herman; fight this thing and come out stronger than ever." Well.... Herman gave up the fight and threw in the towel, which tells me one of two things:
#1. The guy was not the gutsy fighter I thought he was and let Gloria Allred and some old broads send him running like a scared rabbit. Or.......
#2. The guy was guilty and ran and hid behind God and his wife.
If you're innocent, you stand and fight until hell freezes over. But, Herman drops out of the GOP race for President. His accusers are eerily silent now. Herman is eerily quiet now. I wonder how much "left-over" campaign cash was used to silence his accusers.
I might sound like I'm pissed off, but it's more disappointment than anything. Is there no one that we can vote for who is a person of principle? Where are Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan when we really need them?
Well then, I didn’t slam perry either. I just said he had an IQ just above 70.

I think you’re a Cain man because the only (former) candidate who has been criticized on this thread is Cain.
I don’t believe Newt has been mentioned, or Santorum, or Huntsman and Bachmann only in a favorable way.
You threw my statement about Cain being well advised to let the wimmen thing die down back in my face and changed it to Perry.
It’s not mind reading, it’s post reading.
My post reading also tells me that you will argue all morning and maybe into next year, so if you choose to respond to this post, don’t expect a reply.

It's one of the main reasons he lost so much support. He is working to gain it back.

So long as you - and many others too - think and act that way, there is no hope for the republic and our freedoms. Somewhere, someone, somehow, has to take a stand and say “NO MORE”.
Look at what kind of “representation” we have:
1. they destroyed the housing market, so let’s pass a law that INCREASES the cost of new loans.
2) we are more dependent on oil from antagonistic countries, so deny Canada (very friendly) permission to build a pipeline.
3) Jobs is our #1 priority, so defy the courts and prohibit oil workers back on the job.
4) We are all concerned about preserving our freedom, so pass a law that citizens are denied due process. Oh, and let terrorists captured on the battlefield have due process rights.
You know when you’ve been had. That’s wise. If you did read the thread you will see that most of the candidates were criticized in post 7 - as had been previously provided.
It was that post that sent me out to make the point that has now been made continually on this thread. I thank you for helping make said point.
And yes, I will argue for what I think is right. Won’t you?
I don’t think he’s dumb. I like what he says.
But I do question how one could lose one’s train of thought in relation to such a major and fundamental idea.

But I don’t like it when he can’t remember a fundamental component of his overall approach to the presidency. Things like that make me think that it really isn’t a fundamental component of his plans - but rather he is just trying to remember what primary voters want to hear. Why else would he “forget” such things?
Although Perry may just be saying what his voters want to hear, it is possible to forget such things as well.
I've been married for 25 years and signed my maiden name to a check the other day, I forgot my best friends name once, I loose keys, forget what I was going to say next, all kinds of stuff - just leaves my mind sometimes. And, unless you are lucky enough to have never had your mind go "blank" , then you understand what I mean.
President, hell, I couldn't even run for city council or school board.
With my "varied and interesting" life experiences you wouldn't even need a private investigator to get enough on me to embarrass my family to make me withdraw.
Even if you've lead a "good" life, there are so many things that "good" people have done, which can be twisted into ugly events, that I don't know how we get any candidates.
There is no background on obama, and only the msm provides cover for that "oversight".

Do you at least understand why it bothers some people though? What his mind went blank on wasn’t trivial like location of keys, a name, etc. Would you forget, for example, that you were married or that you were pro-life? Would you forget that you want to eliminate the income tax? Maybe the major things i’ve listed and the department he wants to eliminate aren’t quite in the same arena.
Different animals imo. So while I obviously agree that sometimes we all forget mostly trivial things - very few of us forget major defining things.
So while I continue to enjoy hearing what Perry has to say [one of my favs is part time Congress] I will continue to have a big reservation.
The reason is that people don’t forget such big things and if they do, the reason is important to know about... for me.

Perry was among the first generation in his family to attend college, enrolling at Texas A&M University in the fall of 1968. He joined the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets and was elected twice to serve as an Aggie Yell Leader. Perry graduated in August 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science.
Upon graduation, Perry took a commission in the United States Air Force, flying C-130 tactical aircraft to destinations around the globe, including South America, Europe and the Middle East. In 1977, Perry was< honorably discharged from the Air Force with the rank of Captain, and he returned home to the family farm, where they grew dryland cotton, milo and wheat.
None of us knows. But it probably is - IIRC 70 is the cut-off for being "mentally retarded". No way someone w/ such a low IQ could accomplish what he has.
The question then remains for me - why did he forget such a fundamental part of his plan for the presidency? I know it isn't b/c of an IQ problem. And it isn't a trivial fact like someone's name. My reservation is that this WAS a trivial fact for him... that it really ISN'T a core belief or even something important... that he is just saying it.

It’s all too easy for us to say what we would have done, we’re not in that arena. It’s not our reputation that’s being torn to shreds, nor our families hurt.
There was no way, once these allegations started, for Cain to win, either personally or politically. It became like shadowboxing. The bottom-feeders would have continued to bring forth women until he dropped out. Their stories didn’t need to be credible. There’s no purpose to doing that any more. The women and their stories have done their job. It’s they who generated the headlines, not Cain. And they were headlines only because he was running for president. Now that he’s out of the race, you won’t hear from any of them ever again.
BTW, in the case of Herman Cain, he’s never served in public office nor have ‘we’ ever paid his salary. He was a successful businessman who chose to become engaged in politics on the national stage. The position of public trust he sought (which, together with its extraordinary ‘benes’) taxpayers DO pay.
Perry´s a little to chummy with the Aga Khan, Grover Norquist and other islamists for my taste. Thanks.
The candidates in this race is what we have. I will take a real stand and vote for a conservative Bachmann. Sitting around and dreaming about people who aren’t running is foolish and a waste of time.
Problem we have is that the conservatives in this race get treated like crap.
People want to take a stand? Quit picking a candidate by debating ability and pick one that is principled. Truth is there may be only one debate or maybe no debate.
I know I am wasting my time mentioning this, but I did anyway.
Remember (all those years ago)when Lady Diana screwed up Prince Charles name on their wedding day? Sheet happens, even when the event is important.
I have not decided on my vote yet, so even though I'm a Texan, it's not about Perry, its about being realistic to in regards to human failure.

I never saw one indication of that selfless trait in Cain. He sucked all the air from every room. He accused people of trying to bring him down. He blamed Perry. He went on every TV and radio show there was. He was loud. He wore a hat that drew unnecessary attention. He sang loud. He even smiled loud. He loved the limelight. He was a talk show host. He was a singer. He was a motivational speaker. He was a performer. Now he’s doing Freedom Concerts. He wanted to be president. He wanted to be VP. Now he wants to be Secretary of Defense. If he could make himself the center of attention for the rest of his life, he would do it unless doing so turned out to be more negative.
You said, “Seeing what happened to Cain.” What happened to him? Those complaints happened over a decade ago and had nothing to do with something being planted. All the candidates have had their pasts revealed, Remember the rock on the ranch Perry leased? They just didn’t jump up and down and cry. No. I don’t think Cain is stepping in to the background to be kind. Hopefully he’s preparing a law suit against all of those women.
It is because they’ve been paid off by whoever wanted Cain out, and the damage is done. Any further accusations or harassment could be libel/slander bait, and subject them to lawsuit action. They rest easy knowing their evil work is done.
