Like so many Conservative Americans, I put my hopes into Herman Cain. I thought: "Here's a Conservative Black man who really could defeat Obama." Then, the gales became a "perfect storm". I was devastated but still "believed" in him. "Hang in there Herman; fight this thing and come out stronger than ever." Well.... Herman gave up the fight and threw in the towel, which tells me one of two things:
#1. The guy was not the gutsy fighter I thought he was and let Gloria Allred and some old broads send him running like a scared rabbit. Or.......
#2. The guy was guilty and ran and hid behind God and his wife.
If you're innocent, you stand and fight until hell freezes over. But, Herman drops out of the GOP race for President. His accusers are eerily silent now. Herman is eerily quiet now. I wonder how much "left-over" campaign cash was used to silence his accusers.
I might sound like I'm pissed off, but it's more disappointment than anything. Is there no one that we can vote for who is a person of principle? Where are Sarah Palin, Jim DeMint and Paul Ryan when we really need them?

Thank you for the post. All I can say, honestly, is that I myself could NEVER run for President. Imagine if every bad thing you ever did was suddenly ripe for the press?

All I can say, honestly, is that I sympathize with these poor bastards, and I regret that we’re going to get Presidents from here on in who haven’t LIVED a whit.
What may seem obvious to you is simply irrelevant or false to others.
For instance, it’s obvious to me that poor perry is a dunderhead w/ an IQ just above 70.
This is all about sharing points of view but when you simply discount others because it’s “obvious” to you that you’re right, you’re half-way to becoming a liberal.

At the same time Kinky Friedman who has run against Perry many times seems to think that Perry is the cat’s pyjamas.
He was on Hannity last week and hinted heavily that he is looking into legal action against those who slandered him.
Problem is not the candidates.
Problem is that we've turned the Office of President into a popular monarchy.
In Washington or Adam's day, no President thought he was the solution to all America's problems. In fact, they were careful to weaken the Presidency enough so that mortal men could not wreak too much havoc.
No President thought he had the solution to how many after-tax cents-per-dollar some miner Appalachia took home to his family.
Reagan didn't think he was the solution either.
Only someone who thinks of it as a dirty job that someone has to do is suited for the job, and we are instead looking to coronate some movie star like Palin.
As long as we're trying to elect a benevolent dictator, we'll always be disappointed by the results.
Nor do you. Based on the evidence in the media and the public facts articulated by the "victims" there was was nothing to suggest any of these "ladies" had a basis for a claim aginst Cain. Further, most attempts to construct a claim would be long barred by the statute of limitations. Wild speculations about unknown events that may or may not have happened is worthless.

I guarantee you the Dems and the media will vigorously investigate his “Cure the Gay Clinic” which receives State and Federal funding for them to counsel homosexuals to “Pray the gay away”. He is not a licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. AND, there has been an investigation into his practice billing Medicaid/Medicare for treatment not performed or billing the government for a condition that is not covered; just doing so under a different name. Do a Google search on this man whom many are convinced is gay himself. Dude needs to be vetted......NOW!! The last thing we need is an October surprise”
Presidential Timber?
Perry certainly is Presidential Timber. Governing Texas is a better prerequisite for President than being in Congress.
We need an executive.
By the way are you saying the "good man" Perry is a stupid crook who greases palms? The "good man" has such a powerful machine that he defeated the ROve/Bush machine?
Perry was the chair of the Republican Governors Association. He stepped up during every natural disaster we have had and has been stellar in dealing with them.
Texas has it's problems but it is also the 13th largest economy in the world and it is the 2nd most populated state in the union.
Was guardisil misguided? Yes and I would have opted out for my daughter but guess what, it isn't even a mandate.
Was TTC a major land grab? Yes but it wasn't' so Perry could pay off friends, it was an idea to deal with the massive Texas population growth (I suppose you like the rush hour traffic from Dallas to Austin) and guess what, we aren't building it.
In 11 years Perry has 2 big mistakes as governor that never even came to pass as law or as a reality. He has an outstanding record for conservatism.
I strongly believe that. I felt it in my gut from the beginning.
He has worked hard and continues to do so for the votes of Iowans and he has never lost an election. If you look at the RCP polling you can see he is trending up. He could have quit after his "oops" moment but he didn't. He is interested in earning the voters support in order to right this ship.
I hesitate to post a comment, because I too, would have liked to seen him fight to clear his name. I’ve given it some thought and I’ve decided it is not just Herman Cain’s fight, but our fight also. We will never have the kind of public servant we need if we allow candidates to be treated the way Herman Cain was treated. We need the media to understand that we expect journalism - real vetting of the candidates - not supermaket magazines stories accepted as vetting.
Any ideas anyone? Most of us here don’t listen to the alphabet media anyway. What do we do to get the media’s attention?

Perry does say the right things usually and I like that.
But I don’t like it when he can’t remember a fundamental component of his overall approach to the presidency. Things like that make me think that it really isn’t a fundamental component of his plans - but rather he is just trying to remember what primary voters want to hear. Why else would he “forget” such things?
Cain withdrew just as his campaign was gathering momentum. He had just released a campaign video and given an address in which he outlined his views on foreign policy.
There was a journalist here who said we should believe Michele Obama is having a steamy affair with a secret serviceman outside of the White House (when she gets out of Washington). He says we should believe it because unsubstantiated rumors are now to be taken true.
Shame on the Press, they have gone to new lows.
No, I don't think so.
You have such a right in the sense that you can use whatever criteria seem right to you in deciding who gets your vote.
But to "expect" it, in the sense that that's normative and you'll be disappointed if you don't get it? Nope.
They could have good reason to be laying low...
