House Republicans are in full revolt in the wake of Senate passage of a two-month payroll tax holiday package, casting serious doubt on the fate of a bill that already has President Barack Obamas approval.
Republican leaders were warned that they could expect a rebellion if lawmakers are forced to vote on the Senate version of the bill, according to a source on the line. After the call, its not clear whether Republican leaders will try to pass the bill with a combination of Republican and Democratic votes or try another version and bring the Senate back to town. Leadership is expected to reconvene this weekend to talk about how to proceed.

DeMint had an article earlier.
This would be total capitulation by the GOP if they pass it.
Hmmm, by the RATs own logic, isn’t this A SPENDING BILL??? One that must ORIGINATE in the House?
Truth is, Politico has it backward: Republican leadership is in rebellion . . . against the majority of the American people.
McConnell and Boehner are the Democrats whipping boys. They are complicit in Obama’s plans.
I bet you dollars to doughnuts, they are supporters of Romney.
First of all, the GOP would never inconvenience any members by having them come back into DC over Christmas holidays.
Bonehead and Cantor will pass it like they did with the Debt Ceiling...
With Democrat House Votes.
What does this tell you about Bonehead and Cantor?
If bonehead passes this his time is up. And along with ever Republican in the House. The ride is over. Time for total rebellion.
That neither will be in the leadership in the next Congress.
What's the main gripe?
For this country’s sake, I hope u are right.
I forget what Republicans recently gave away in exchange for a vote on a balanced budget. A vote can always be NO, and it was. How stupid are they...giving away something now for a vote on something later...very!
“McConnell and Boehner are the Democrats whipping boys. They are complicit in Obamas plans.
I bet you dollars to doughnuts, they are supporters of Romney.”
You are right...Romney is a carbon copy of those two, with a heavy dose of carbon.
BTW at the rate we are going dollars and doughnuts, will soon be of equal value, if something is not done soon, a doughnut could far exceed the value of a dollar.
Should I be heading to Lowes tomorrow?

By trickery,
this requirement of our Constitution (like so many others) has become meaningless.
In our new world,
the senate can attach anything they want to regarding spending
to any bill they want to that originated in the house
and claim that they can do so because the bill originated in the house.
See Constitution of the United States Article 1 Section 7:
“All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.”
The bill did not repeal the light bulb ban.
It did, however, specify that no funds could be used to enforce the ban.
But Loews and Home Depot or anyone else would be foolish
to try to sell 100 watt light bulbs after January 1st.
Boner and McConnell have cooked their own goose.
My sense is that amending a bill is within the purview of the Senate, so they can amend away the old bill so that it looks entirely new.
