Gov. Rick Perry is double-dipping, drawing retirement income from the state in addition to his salary as governor since late January, newly released records show.

Perry's move to begin drawing from his pension early this year while remaining governor, which his staff says is legal and consistent with state retirement rules, was unknown to the public until federal financial disclosures were made public on Friday. ... Combined, his net pay from the state is now more than $225,000 annually.

You have issues.

We pay our politicians. The money he earned is his.

Who do you want for a candidate?

That depends on how it was set up.

If he paid into it, like any other job, and he became eligible for it, it’s not a problem. He’s not drawing the governor’s pension, while being governor. He’s drawing upon a government pension, from the jobs he’s had over the years.

Fundamentally, it’s not any different than if he had gone into private enterprise and was drawing the exact same government pension, for the jobs he’s done over the years.

I don’t see a problem here at all.

Are you going to be impressed by his and Anita’s charitable giving when those figures become known?

It's his money. If he takes it now he gets less per month than if he waits and gets more per month.

I believe he could have started taking it earlier.

Perry is not a wealthy man.

I could give a sh!t about Rick Perry or anybody else living off welfare or collecting food stamps, but if you think I’m going to get as worked up as you about something that is both moral and ethical since the law allows for socialist welfare, so far as I can see, then you’re crazy....

Is this your view regarding "free healthcare" as well? Guess it is, and all opponents of socialism are crazy.

No, I supported Palin and then Cain. Now it is Bachmann. So try again.

So you expect people, who work in government, to work for free?

That’s not to argue against shrinking government.

IF true, but I think he is too old to be under the NEW system, then HE needs to get out there and explain this. So far, he has been very quite so I think I am more right than you are. Perry is not one to keep things simmering......if you were right, he would have been on Letterman or Saturday Night Live to explain himself by now.

You know the answer and why-- so don't tell me you have a problem with that!

You are looking worse than Perry when you stoop that low!

So you expect people, who work in government, to work for free?

At no more than 75% of the national median.

He’d be stupid not to draw his pension if he’s eligible....

Then there's no need to continue to criticize SEIU employees and their demand for continued taxpayer funded pensions and benefits.........They're eligible.

And by the way, what Perry's doing is not allowed in the private sector due to the laws regarding Defined Benefit Plans that the majority of us who have company sponsored pension plans must comply with.........

Is Perry eligible? Sure he is but if he chooses to support the Tea Party and what it stands for AND AGAINST, specifically, government largess and all the exorbitant TAX PAYER FUNDED benefits government employees are entitled to, then he's a hypocrite...........

Wouldn't you love to be able to draw your company sponsored pension once you met the age requirement and continue to work at the same time? Sure you would, but you can't.........it's the law.

Then you shouldn’t be upset at Perry getting the pension that he’s paid into.

The amount he’s getting isn’t huge.

Do Perry-haters REALLY think they’re going to gain any traction when Perry makes less $ than the guys flying his airplanes?
