Rep. Barney Frank is predicting that President Obama would easily win a general election against Newt Gingrich, but stopped short of guaranteeing that Obama would eclipse his 2008 victory.
The retiring Massachusetts Democrat recently said that a Gingrich nomination would be the best thing to happen to the Democrats since Barry Goldwater.
Asked for a prediction on electoral votes, Frank this week told The Hill, The thing is [Gingrich] could carry most of the South. He said Obama's count would be in the 300s against the Georgia Republican.
To win the White House, 270 electoral votes are needed.
Obama won 365 electoral votes in 2008 against Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who captured 173. In 1964, President Lyndon Johnson won 486 electoral votes to Goldwaters 52.
Earlier this fall amid Texas Gov. Rick Perry's surge in the GOP primary polls, Frank said Mitt Romney would present a more difficult challenge for Democrats in the general election.

This is the BEST proof yet we are on the right track!
I’m not sure the “Mean old white dude” line of attack is going to work nearly as well on Gingrich as it did on McCain. The only way the Democrats get to 300 EV’s is with massive fraud - which will work equally well against any Republican.
America’s economy and security have become one big junkyard. It will take a “junkyard dawg” to clear the place up. I’ll give Newt a 4 year shot at it. He knows his way around the yard and is not afraid to bite. He knows he has only one shot left to go down in history as the President who saved America from the Marxists/Socialists/Communists. Its Newt’s time.
Yea, like I’m going to listen to a guy that will put a feces incrusted p*nis in his mouth.....
Can we act like adults here for a moment? Who really gives a frip what the queer Bwaney Frank thinks?
Good Point.
Whew! With Barney’s record, I am now sure that the OPPOSITE will come true.
I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard this ridiculous notion. Who will they fear next? Santorum?
Well, while he's pulling numbers out of his fat wrinkled butt, why not a million billion electoral votes? With all of the rat fraud we can expect, that's probably going to be closer to the final count.
Considering the miraculous {snicker} decline in the unemployment number to 8.6% from 9.1%, and considering that the MSM and Dems have about 10 months for rehabilitation and resurrection, they can make Obama look great by next November.
And they have plenty of time to go through Gingrich’s trainload of baggage, little by little during the coming months.
The GOP nominee will have an uphill battle by next November. I just don’t see another Grand OLD Party white-haired guy getting much of the current 48% or so who support Obama already, nor the guy making much headway, unless the economy collapses and joblessness rises back into the 9-10% range.
For all the hoopla, Gingrich has too much baggage and the MSM/Dems will reveal every piece of it they can.
What has been seen, cannot be unseen.
You may not like them all, but Gingrich has real accomplishments while in a position that mattered.
Wait... You are joking, right?
No. They do not fear Gingrich at all. He is the establishment candidate that they want.
Name 5 things different that Obama has done that Gingrich would have done differently.
Is there ANYTHING about this guy that isn’t perverted?
Gingrich in Presidential Debate 10/11/11
IMHO, I think that 0 would be hard put to accumaulate 300 EV’s if he ran unopposed.
Don’t know how Gingrich would do, but I’m going to claim straight-up bs on that one.
Exactly what baggage do you fear? What makes you think that these MSM/Dems won't exploit Romney's baggage or any of the other potential rivals or should I say likely rivals.
Barny Frank must be on the same drug as Dr Michael Savage.
