--Olive Garden's struggles continue to weigh down Darden's earnings
--Darden says Olive Garden didn't change with the times coming out of recession

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Darden Restaurants Inc.'s DRI -.00% fiscal second-quarter earnings fell 28% on continued woes at the casual-dining company's Olive Garden restaurant chain.
Over the past year, Darden, which also owns Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse, has struggled to garner momentum for Olive Garden, its largest chain, chalking up the sales and traffic declines to promotional misfires and increased competition.

Good. I have sworn off ALL Darden restaurants because of their Hussein ass kissing.
I swear I didn’t read yours before I wrote mine!
“I swear I didnt read yours before I wrote mine!”
LOL, I do believe you.
Olive Garden sucks, I’ll never go back again- I only went because of a gift card. Red Lobster has made my wife and several family members sick, multiple times. I didn’t know that they were the same outfit until this thread. (I love Fishdaddy’s!)
I went to Italy for 10 days and ate "real Italian food". I prefer Olive Garden - at least there's some variety. We ate the same thing every darn day.
I like the food at the Olive Garden here in Fairlawn, OH. But I don’t like the fact that the US flag is banned. Had I known that, I would not have bought my daughter a gift certificate for her family this Christmas.
I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of Western NY where even the names in the phone books have mustaches!
I was eating stuffed peppers before most people were even weaned!
My mom made this amazing red sauce that you could eat on anything, hell, if you put it on your Cheerios they’d be the best Cheerios you ever ate in your life!
Cripes my mom was German and she made better Italian food than I had at OG....
I have an 89 year old Italian MIL. You are welcome to come over any day to enjoy the best sauce ever. I would love to eat it every day. My cardiologists suggests otherwise.
I am a proud Olive Garden basher...actually, we had very poor experiences with them over the years; we generally had good food and service at Red Lobster, though. Now we avoid ALL Darden restaurants.
That may be true, but you just might have better taste buds than me. When my mother cooked spaghetti, she mixed tomato soup and ketchup for the sauce. She cooked the hell out just about everything , because that was the way my father liked it. When I moved out of the house and made my own spaghetti using store-bought sauce, I was amazed at how delicious spaghetti was.
In short, aside from a few dishes, just about everything I've eaten in restaurants surpassed my mother's cooking...especially Italian dishes. Now maybe you come from a part of the country where Italian cooking is common and standards are higher. But all I can say is OG beats my mother's cooking of Italian dishes hands down.
why?
Interesting.
Their profit is down 28% but they won’t be burdended with the obama care expenses. For now. Moving forward, their profits will decrease further and after the election, the obamacare waiver will go away. What then Darden?
Sucks to be them.
Because they bent over for Team Hussein’s Dietery Demands.
