Gingrich has spent a lot of time courting her. This endorsement (assuming accurate reports) says a lot more about him, than about her or Romney.
Haley has been no stranger to criticizing Gingrich in the past:
On May 17, 2011 (well before the Newt surge):
Gov. Nikki Haley hammers Gingrich over Medicare remarks
Dallas (CNN) - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich might not want to count on a presidential endorsement from South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
In an interview with CNN Tuesday, Haley sharply admonished Gingrich for his comments over the weekend disparaging the Medicare plan proposed by House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan as "radical change" and "right-wing social engineering."
The remarks opened a floodgate of conservative criticism, with elite opinion writers on down to Iowa voters accusing Gingrich of throwing his own party under the bus and making it easier for Democrats to attack the Ryan plan.
Add Lindsay Graham to RINOs Romney and Haley and you have a threesome.
that is huge for MR
Just goes to show that the only *organization* the Tea Party movement needs is AT the VOTING BOOTH.
When they start having splinter groups running around claiming to be the ‘real’ Tea Party, that’s when the movement started to decay.
Told you!
Every GOP woman wants to be married to Mitt Romney
That’s the truth.
I wonder what the “offer-she-couldn’t-refuse” was??
WHY??????????
When she disrespected Gov Sarah Palin on a couple occasions on television, I wrote her off quite some time ago
Did anybody else see this, or did I have too much to drink last night?
Had Fox and Friends on this morning when Gov. Haley was discussing her endorsement. Below her the Fox News Alert bar said “Haley Barbour to announce endorsement today” or something of that sort.
My questions:
1. Is Haley Barbour really going to endorse somebody today?
or
2. Fox got their Haley’s mixed up?
or
3. I was still half-buzzed and really didn’t see anything I’m describing here.
The creation of sheeple is easy ! waking them up from it is going to be hard !...
Supposing worse comes to worst, and Romney the RINO wins the nomination, what’s going to happen to FR?
Will Jimrob have to ban all Presidential Politics discussion? Will FR become a pro-Obama “teach the GOP a lesson” retaliation underground?
Just wondering if that’s what happens, then the cataclysm of flame wars on FR might be what the Maya prophesied for 2012?
That old TEA isnt as strong as we remember it.
Its been diluted with RINO pee.
Woke up to this disappointing news early on F&F. Grrr!
Surprising. I expected her to endorse Perry.
So it’s down to RINO Mitt vs. RINO Newt. Bummer.
I wonder what pressure (or promises) she got to fall in line behind Romney.
I am a South Carolinian and a supporter of Gov. Nikki Haley. Needless to say, this is a disappointing decision to me. I know why she did it — It was a pure political calculation. Simply put, Nikki was first endorsed by Mitt Romney in her run for Governor by Mitt Romney — when she was in last place in the polls. Of course, it was Sarah Palin’s endorsement that rocketed her to 1st place and the Governor’s mansion — but alas, Sarah’s not running. Thus, she gave her endorsement to the Presidential Candidate that gave her his endorsement. So, this is just a political payback. She’s “playing the game.” Not surprising.... But I don’t think it will help Romney all that much in SC at this point.
Unlike O’Donnell, Bob Dole, and Mark Kirk, this one is actually meaningful.
People are excepting the race as a two-way and don’t like Gingrich’s chances in November. I expect more players to publicly line up behind Romney.
What a state of affairs.
A lot of ignorant statements on this thread. Haley isn’t a sellout and isn’t popular because most SC Republicans like to call themselves conservatives to avoid confrontation but they are just as quick to accept a handout as anyone. I love my governor.
