Congressional lawmakers reached an agreement late Thursday to avoid a government shutdown this weekend, Democratic and Republican leaders will push for a final vote on the $1 trillion spending bill on Friday morning hours before much of the federal government would have been forced to turn out the lights.
The final bill removes several provisions of concern to President Barack Obama including a measure to reinstate travel restrictions on Cuba, POLITICO reported. It also would ensure the Commodities Futures Trading Commission is fully funded next year.
But Democrats had to drop their opposition to a ban prohibiting the District of Columbia from funding abortions.
The bill does not include an extension of the payroll tax cut or of unemployment insurance benefits both of which must be dealt with before the end of the year.

RE: If I ran my household like this, I would have lost everything I own and have long ago been in jail for fraud, theft, false advertising, bribery, graft, conspiracy and a thousand other charges.

Just rememebr the standard liberal retort — Don’t compare households with the Federal Government. The latter has the power to TAX and PRINT MONEY, households don’t.
Dems are probably waiting for Repubs to bring that objection. Their reply would be, "We wanted to pay for the unemployment and payroll tax cuts by the millionaires' tax but Repubs would not let us."
The GOP could then argue that the millionaires' tax would not do what they claimed, but it's not clear that keeping that dialog with the "millionaires" buzz word in the news would be to the GOP's advantage, when the clueless voters stopped munching doritos and watching football long enough to hear a few words.
One thing is sure, they can't make a half-***ed effort in this debate.
Wanna bet? ;^)
They shouldn’t, but....
True. They also have the power to put you in jail and seize everything you own if you don't pay what you "owe" to them as they steal everything from you which they decide.
They also make the laws. You obey them.
Is there any question why our Founding Fathers distrusted and despised these people and tried to put some brakes on them? Too bad in the end they failed - but at least they tried and managed it for a while.
Better luck next time, America...
I hear ya. I agree with you, and I know you realize the dynamics of our party’s mushy players these days.
All they have to mention is “Shut down the Government” and the Republicn’s bowels turn to water. The Republicans crap all over themselves

Newt vs Clinton.
what is the use of battling all stinking year long and then caving in to the tune of ONE TRILLION DOLLARS at the snap of a finger. MindBlowin BS from BOTH PARTIES......something ain’t right, somebody ain’t telling what they know is going to happen very very soon that will make all this money counting obsolete.
Well, what the hell is it?
Exactly. They’ll deduct a huge chunk because I’ll be earning a lot, but at least I’ll get something before it flatlines. And if it somehow lasts another 5 years, I’ll get some or all of that back.
>and those of us in the military would have our leave cancelled (if we were taking it) and report to work.
But if they aren’t getting paid then they could, quite legally, refuse any such orders. The 13th Amendment clearly prohibits involuntary servitude, except as punishment for crimes.
>Damn!
You stole my post! ;)
Here’s the only acceptable “spending deal”: STOP SPENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indeed; you have my full agreement.
This tax increase will go into effect (or as our Democrat compatriots would say, this temporary tax cut will end) on 1 January 2012. The self-employed will have to pay 2% more of their incomes to the federal government on 15 April 2012 if they make quarterly estimated tax payments. The tax cut expiration will not affect taxes on income earned and paid on or before 31 December 2011.
More like Republicans have claimed that tax cuts are 'free', that they don't cost anything to anyone, that they never result in deficits, that tax cuts are good under ANY conditions even with increases in spending, and they repeated it so many times that they know if they try to press for real replacement of FICA funding that their past words will be thrown in their faces. Republicans have been the party of 'we will pay for more spending with tax cuts' so long that they are scared to argue anything now.
MSNBC is now reporting that the FICA cuts will be funded by fees paid by Fannie and Freddie for a two month extension. I have no idea if this is true. Maybe they will surprise me.
You are right in that the payroll tax includes both.
Why is the medicare part not mentioned?
“...it’s like the liberals and rinos are in cloward-piven hyperdrive.”
Outstanding post! You should make that your tagline.
I think that they know they are running out of time.
“the dog has to get his own plane normally”
I know that muslims believe dogs to be the devil. However, do you have a link to back up your assertion?
That would explain a lot.
Repubs caved again. They only got language that says Zer0 has to make a decision about the Keystone pipeline in the next 60 days, and I think we all know what his decision will be.
Our side got NOTHING! Again.
The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.
Kind of like the role the Washington Generals play to the Harlem Globetrotters.
