Congressional lawmakers reached an agreement late Thursday to avoid a government shutdown this weekend, Democratic and Republican leaders will push for a final vote on the $1 trillion spending bill on Friday morning hours before much of the federal government would have been forced to turn out the lights.
The final bill removes several provisions of concern to President Barack Obama including a measure to reinstate travel restrictions on Cuba, POLITICO reported. It also would ensure the Commodities Futures Trading Commission is fully funded next year.
But Democrats had to drop their opposition to a ban prohibiting the District of Columbia from funding abortions.
The bill does not include an extension of the payroll tax cut or of unemployment insurance benefits both of which must be dealt with before the end of the year.

I really don’t understinkingstand WTF is going on. Where did the get a TRILLION DOLLARS. Is this ANOTHER stop gap measure, and if so, how long is it supposed to stop the gap? Help
A Trillion. Just Like That? emmmm what about that stuff about automatic cuts cus the SupperKommittee failed?
Really whats the use in having budgets if you can just conjure up a cool T every few weeks. (Boy I bet them Greeks are really pissed that they can’t print their own money anymore)
oh one more thing, cause I’m pretty sure it will be in the news in a few more stopgaps.....what comes after Trillion?
lollollol great pics!!!
My only hope is that the deadline is General Election Day 2012.
Let the bastard try to deal with that timing.
Actually, it’s my understanding that she’s already in Hawaii.
The One will be able to smoke all that he wants.
They seem to be a two “vehicle” family, donchya know.
“Unless folks are willing to forgo their SS benefits, they should be paying into the fund.”
It has been my feeling...and that’s all it is...that they are purposely defunding SS and medicare.
No one mentions that medicare is part of the payroll tax.
The devil is in the fine print. The more pages to a bill the finer the print.
But this isn't really a 'tax', it's just the worker's own money going into a locked box©, to be kept "safe" by the federal government, so that it is there when the worker retires. It's not a tax.. it's a retirement fund.
I agree totally, it's like the liberals and rinos are in cloward-piven hyperdrive. Oh, they've been doing this in a somewhat big way in all sorts of big federal programs over MANY years, before zer0 and his cabal today. But now, it's like they see the promised land so close, they want things to collapse sooner rather than later, not a drawn out thing we've been used to. They want it to collapse SOON so that it does so with these clowns we have now in power taking the reins rather than their cadres in some future "america".
So, removing funding for SS (payroll "tax"), removing $500 billion out of medicare, are ways to bankrupt these programs that THEY THEMSELVES PUT IN PLACE for the purpose of future collapse, are merely ways to have that collapse occur much sooner. I shudder to think when exactly they have in mind.
“A trillion dollars here, a trillion dollars there - - pretty soon you’re talking about real money.”
Whew. Word was, the civilians would all be placed on unpaid furlough, during which they could apply for unemployment benefits, and those of us in the military would have our leave cancelled (if we were taking it) and report to work. I'm glad.
But Democrats had to drop their opposition to a ban prohibiting the District of Columbia from funding abortions.
Oh, the horror of having to both save money and refrain from killing babies. The Democrats got hit with a double whammy!
That’s too bad.
Exactly why I’ll be applying for early SS benefits tomorrow. Get what I can while I can. I’ve decided to take what bennies I can while I continue to work full time.
The checks will start in March or April, and they will almost equal what I’ve been spending on groceries each month. Better than a kick in the teeth. (That comes later, I know.)
Spend, spend, spend. It's not their money, right? The tax slaves will reelect all of them again anyway. Why should they worry?
crisis averted ping...
The bill does not include an extension of the payroll tax cut or of unemployment insurance benefits both of which must be dealt with before the end of the year.
only 'spent' a cool tril and look, we even have cash leftover to cut payroll taxes of unemployment checks, win/win...
I don’t fully understand. Shouldn’t the money printing presses have either broken down from overuse or run out of lubricant? All these politico-bozos do is print more money. STOP SPENDING, you oafs.
silly hal, part of that trillion, in the fine print goes to the ACME lubricating company of wallah wallah washinton...
another shutdown another day.
does anyone remember our government ever running like this before all this hope and change happened?
we run on a 3 month cycle now .. can we afford to pay the light bills or do we get shut off ..
unbelievable and the media love him .. nothing wrong with this picture
>OH WOW... does this mean that B.Hussein Obama and Michelle and kids all ride in the same plane to their 17 day Hawaiian vacation...poor Hussein he won’t be able to smoke his ciggies with her around...how sad....<
‘Fraid not, she already left
A/K/A as "We have been screwed again". The reason the Democrats do not pass a budget is that it is more fun to rub the Republican's faces in shit every few months.
All they have to mention is "Shut down the Government" and the Republicn's bowels turn to water. The Republicans crap all over themselves.
>They seem to be a two vehicle family, donchya know.<
actually a three vehicle family .... the muslim won’t fly with the dog.
the dog has to get his own plane normally
