What was AFDC, TANIF, CETA, JTPA, WIA, Food Stamps, Head Start, WIN, Promise Jobs, EOC, Job Corps, WIC, AmeriCorps and Affirmative Action if not federal intervention?

There are no jobs for them anymore. Due to automation, computerization and cheap Chinese imports. They are a poorly edumacated labor surplus along with some other people in the good old USA. A lot of things changed 50 years ago. What was that, about 1960 something?

There was this cultural rift that sort of started in about 1960 something. Political Correctness and a victim's society was introduced. Nothing was fair, make love not war. We should cherish the real American Heritage, the Indians. The colonists were bad. The instigators of the Revolutionary war were ungrateful. We should embrace other country's cultures as our own. Kumbaya.......

What else? Oh yea, there was contemptuous riots because Democrats kept blocking segregation reform. The welfare entitlements started to find stride after the new deal. And later, we went to war to provide a synergistic cause to embrace our cultural revolt.

I can't figure out why entire segments of our population have been in doldrums for 50 years. Maybe some believed the BS and just got stuck in the ideals of the time. Then they passed those same attitudes on to their offspring and government subsidized dependence became genetic.

One of the complaints about Obama (from the left) is that he hasn't done enough for the African-American community. Doug Wilder wrote a recent article about who was the "first black president" - Clinton or Obama ..... the conclusion being that Clinton, although not black by birth, had done more for blacks. Wilder still has hopes that Obama will do more in his second term (God forbid, please!). How "convenient" that with a re-election campaign looming and discontent with Obama over not helping A-As, suddenly there is a call for the Federal government to do more.

I think I see the flaw in this report. Wonder if they bothered to ask how many of these "unemployed" actually want to find a job versus how many are happy just bilking the system for all it's worth.

African Americans still reside mainly in separate and unequal communities. In 2010, in the 100 metropolitan areas with the largest African American populations, 62.5 percent of blacks would have had to move to achieve full black–white integration.

The three-part plan includes the creation of public-sector jobs? Go to any VA hospital and compare the whites to blacks. The public-sector is already mostly black so they’re going to “create” some more.
